I nod and slowly start making my tea again. “I believe it’s safe to say that if you were normal men, she might have been able to take me that night… But your wolves stopped it.”

“And our wolves are also the reason you have to break it before the next full moon.”

“Exactly.”

Nineteen

“I knowwhat we have to do.”

The guys are gathered around the island, drinking coffee while Johnny plates up breakfast.

“Great. Now sit down and eat.” Johnny places a plate on the other end of the table, and Joshua picks me up and deposits me in the other chair.

“Eat them both. We don’t want to hear anything about it until you’ve finished.”

The two blueberry pancakes on the plate are perfectly golden… and about twice as much as I would normally eat, but I settle in to try…

And oddly, it’s not hard to finish both of them.

Everyone but Johnny finishes their stacks about the same time.

“Do you want to hear the bad news or the good news first?”

“Good news.” Thomas says it fast, and I have a feeling Joshua disagrees, but he doesn’t voice it.

“Getting rid of her is going to be… relatively easy.”

“Relative to what?”

“That’s the bad news.” I take the second cup of tea Chase brings me with a quiet thanks. “We have to fight blood magic with blood magic. Luckily, I don’t need to involve the Miller sisters because I don’t have the connection to them that I do to you.”

“What are you going to need?”

“Blood from each of you, silver, a mixture of pretty nasty plants… and the full moon.”

“I thought you said we had to sever itbefore that.”

“It’s a catch twenty-two kind of thing. If you weren’t werewolves, we could, but if I do it before the moon is completely full… the connection between her and Iwillbe cut, but she could steal you from me and turn into what horror movies tend to call a poltergeist…”

Thomas makes a face. “That would suck.”

“It would probably kill all five of us, too.”

“That would suck more.” Johnny says. “So, we have to wait until Tuesday for the spell to be broken.”

“Correct.”

Chase looks pensive as he asks, “What can we do to prep for that now?”

“We can put together the dry stuff.”

“Just the dry stuff?”

“The final ingredient of the spell has to stay inside you for a little while longer.”

“Do we have to all cut our palms with a ritual blade or something?” Joshua asks, his laugh uncomfortable.

“No. I need a bit more from you than that… but I have a plan. We just need to visit your house tomorrow.”
