“Control likes to make sure you didn’t pick up anything en route,” Doctor Shifleman said. “Captain, will you wait out here?”

“No,” he said as Gwyn said the same.

“He can stay with me,” she said.

“As long as you’re willing,” Doctor Shifleman said. “It’s a simple scan. It shouldn’t take long.”

“I know,” she said. “Where do you want me?”

“Have a seat right there,” Doctor Shifleman said indicating where he wanted her.

Gwyn sat in a comfortable chair. Doctor Shifleman pressed some buttons on a console. “Everything looks good. Your fertility block is functioning appropriately. Your vitals are good. You have several fresh bruises but given their location, I assume they were in the line,” he said giving the captain a look.

“Nothing hurts,” Gwyn said. “He’s very gentle.”

“As he should be,” Doctor Shifleman said. “Now you’ve lost some weight. How long was your trip here?”

“Four weeks,” Gwyn said.

“You’ve lost nearly fifteen pounds in that time,” Doctor Shifleman said.

“Control gave me some meds,” Gwyn said.

“I see the notation,” he said frowning as he read the record. “You’re underweight according to health standards.”

“I was told I needed to lose fifty pounds by the end of my contract,” she said blushing.

“I see,” Doctor Shifleman said. “This would put you at an unhealthy weight. Are you still taking the meds they gave you?”

“Yes,” she said. “Once a week.”

“Are you unhappy with your weight,” Doctor Shifleman asked.

Gwyn looked from Ulrik to the doctor. She swallowed hard. “I have to be a certain weight,” she said.

“Why,” Ulrik asked.

“It’s part of my contract,” she said.

“Did you require this, captain,” Doctor Shifleman asked.

“No. I enjoy her curves. She’s perfect as she is,” Ulrik growled at the doctor. “It wasn’t part of the contract I signed.”

“It’s part of the contract control has with the companions,” Gwyn said. “If they receive a complaint about my weight, I can be put on probation, given guidelines, or dismissed.”

“Did one of your clients complain about your weight,” Ulrik squatted in front of her.

“I’m not supposed to talk about my clients,” she said softly.

“I see here what they put you on and it’s not safe,” Doctor Shifleman said. “It can cause damage to your heart. Do you have them with you?”

“Yes,” Gwyn said. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a flat container. “I didn’t know.”

“I’ll be reporting this,” Doctor Shifleman said taking them from her. “You’re underweight but if you want to maintain a lower weight, you should exercise and eat healthy.”

“I work out daily,” Gwyn said. “It helps pass the time.”

“I need to do a scan of your heart,” Doctor Shifleman said. “This involves the removal of your shirt and a scanner placed between your breasts.”
