I need to calm down. Sounding like one of those controlling assholes isn’t the way to go. I don’t know where I’m taking her yet, but I want her to be comfortable.

“Whatever you say, Mr. Bossy,” she teases.

It usually pisses me off when my colleagues call me bossy. But her? I like the way the word sounds on her tongue. The sparkle in her eye makes me think she might get off on me bossing her around.

Hmm. Here’s hoping.

“Do you need a ride?” I’d do anything to spend more time with her, even if it means letting her talk to my annoying little brother.

“No, I’m waiting for my Uber. I ordered it before you came charging out of your car.”

“I didn’t charge.” I lean back on my heels.

“Sure you didn’t.” She rolls her eyes and bites her plump bottom lip.

Brat.

I rub a hand over my jaw, attempting to hide the smirk pulling at my mouth. I might have caught her off guard, but I like that she gives as good as she gets. “I’ll wait with you.”

The horn blares again. This time, it’s Cameron fucking around in the passenger seat.

“I think your brother wants to go.” She grins, nodding her chin towards the car behind me.

“He can wait. I’d rather stay here with you.”

“You’re cute. But don’t worry, that’s my car right there.” She points to the black SUV that pulls up to the curb.

She reaches for her bag, but I grab it instead. Walking her to the waiting car, I carry the small suitcase and put it in the trunk. Ever the gentleman my mom taught me to be, I open the rear door for her.

She stops in front of me, placing her hand on my forearm. Her touch sends a burst of energy through my body, surprising me.

“Thank you. I look forward to seeing you later.” She reaches up on her tiptoes and kisses my cheek, then gets in the car.

I watch as it pulls away from the curb. Time to face my annoying little brother.

Silently, I get back in the car and join the traffic leading out of the airport. I only make it out of the terminal before Cam’s on my ass.

“That’s how you’re going to play this?”

“Kid,” I warn.

“Nope. Don’t you ‘kid’me.” He points his thumb out the window. “That the girl that’s had you all moody and broody the last couple of weeks?”

“Moody and broody? Where the fuck do you come up with this shit?”

Cam cracks up, smacking his thigh. “Just calling it like I see it.”

“No, I’ve been moody because you make me show up for dinners with annoying women who want Eli so he can get them auditions.”

“Hey, I apologized for that, and I bought you a double-double.” He places my phone in the holder mounted to the dashboard.

I might need to get one of these for my car. Jace, like the protective caveman he is, has Ry’s new car outfitted with everything possible to keep her safe while driving.

“You have a date tonight. You gonna tell Rhys you’re ditching him for a chick? Or am I?” He crosses his arms, waiting for it to sink in.

“Damn.” I can’t believe I forgot about my nephew. We have plans to play video games and eat pizza.

“Interesting.” He rubs his chin like an evil villain.
