This surely wasn’t anything to do with the case.

Maybe it was Cage wanting to get to know her better on a personal level. That was okay. In fact, Katie liked it.

Maybe it was the sugar from the chocolate sprinkles inside her, but Katie began to open up even more.

‘I’ve had some nice relationships in the past,’ Katie said. ‘Nothing that ever quite worked out. Most of them ran their natural course and then fizzled out. That happens.’

‘Indeed it does,’ Cage said, his soulful eyes meeting Katie’s gaze.

‘But since starting cam work, it’s been pretty much impossible,’ Katie continued. ‘I’d like to meet someone. I mean, I’d really like to. But the camming lifestyle doesn’t match up to having a secure, loving relationship. It definitely makes it a lot harder anyway. Too much drama.’

‘I can see that,’ Cage said, rubbing his hand over his beard. ‘I’m guessing trust is a factor in that?’

Katie nodded.

Trust was a huge factor.

Her mind immediately though back to her last relationship.

Katie’s previous Daddy wanted nothing but sex. The fact they met through camming should have been a red flag. But Katie had been taken in by her former Daddy’s charms.

After a while, the warning signs had become rather more obvious. Katie could see that her Daddy was essentially using her for sex.

It felt gross.

Really bad.

In fact, it was the worst thing she had experienced.

Katie was sensitive.

Deeply connected to her emotions.

Perhaps it explained her passion for acting and performance.

But when her Daddy was mean to her, or cold and distant, it really hit her confidence hard.

Of course, the final straw came when Katie’s former Daddy announced that he wanted to share Katie with other Daddy Doms.

This felt like a betrayal.

It made Katie feel worthless.

As Katie explained this to Cage, she felt like a weight was being lifted. She had spoken about it with Cassie, and one or two of her other Little friends.

But talking about it with a big, strong Daddy felt different.

Katie could see that Cage was disgusted by the ex-Daddy.

‘W-w-w-would you ever do something like that?’ Katie asked, her voice trembling a touch.

‘Never. Absolutely fucking not. No chance,’ Cage said, his voice suddenly booming again. ‘Loyalty is everything to me. The way I see it, every important relationship has to have a deep sense of trust to it. That’s the same whether I’m dealing with a victim on a case, or…’

Cage paused.

Katie could tell that Cage wanted to saybetween a Daddy and a Littlebut had held himself back for some reason.

‘I understand,’ Katie said, blushing a little. ‘Well, how about you? Relationships I mean.’
