Katie felt her heart beat hard inside her chest.

She wasn’t sure how Cage would react to being asked a question. So far, it had always been the other way round. Cage asking the questions and Katie dutifully answering.

Cage got up from his seat and paced around the kitchen worktop. He picked up a whisky glass and inspected it. It was almost like he was stalling for time.

Then, putting the glass back down, Cage spoke.

‘Well, first things first,’ Cage said. ‘You don’t need to be nervous about asking me a question. Not now. Not ever. I want you to feel comfortable around me. Okay?’

Katie nodded.

It felt good to know that Cage was thinking of her feelings.

Katie also felt her clit begin to tingle and her special place flush wet.

The way Cage spoke and carried himself was so masculine.

Or because of something related to my job.’

‘I understand,’ Katie said. ‘I can see how important your job is to you. It’s like it’s more than a job. It’s your passion.’

‘That’s right,’ Cage said, running his hands through his short hair. ‘It can be tough. I’ve had to pay the ultimate price on occasion too. Still, enough of the negatives. We’re here now. Right?’

Katie smiled.

It was amazing to see Cage being so open.

Katie knew that there would be drama from Cage’s past.

That much was evident.

But there was a clear desire from Cage to change.

Even if he was only hinting at it.

Katie felt like she could be a part of that change.
