“Alright, little buddy,” said Blade, parking in front of the palace. “Don’t take forever chitchatting, Vee.”

“I’ll do whatever I want, my love,” I said, kissing him on the cheek. His face turned pink, and I smiled as I stepped out of the car. The men talked a big game, but inside, they were softies for love. “Just don’t leave me.”

He smirked, and I scowled, closing the door behind me.

I opened the passenger side door and helped Gabe out of his seat. Holding his hand, we walked towards the palace, and the guards let us in without question. Upon entering, the first person I saw was Princess Lyra and her son Manny with yogurt all over his hands, with a maid chasing him all over the place.Only her alpha, Luke, accompanied her with her visits to the palace. Her sigma husbands didn’t get along with the kings, according to her, so they stayed back in the remote part of the island.

The princess smiled upon seeing Gabe.

She held her arms out, and he rushed into them. She was his half-sister, after all. We were cordial but not too friendly. I had a feeling she still held something against me.

“Gabe!” she exclaimed. “Vanessa, how are you doing?”

“Well, I got some news this week,” I said, unable to hold back my smile. A knowing look came over her eyes.

“You’re pregnant?” she squealed.

“Yes,” I said, fully smiling now.

“Oh my gosh, we need to have a birth celebration,” she said.

“Oof, that’s a lot of work,” I said, shaking my head. My hand was on my belly even though there wasn’t much of a bump yet.

“It’ll be fun, and you deserve it.”

“Not really,” I said. “Did you forget what I did to you?”

“That was in the past. We need to move on,” she said. My mom and I are happy that you found your pack. I have a little brother now who’s also best friends with my son, Manny.”

“I just want to say I’m sorry,” I said. “I never said it out loud and wanted you to know it.”

She walked over to me with Gabe in her arms and hugged me.

“I forgive you, Vanessa,” said Lyra. “Don’t get haunted by the past, okay?”

“Thank you,” I said. “Alright, I’ll think about this whole birth celebration thing.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you organize it with Jade,” she said, smiling. “Jade can get her friends too. It’ll be huge!”

Once I was back in the car, Blade could tell something was up by the way I was smiling and daydreaming about the birth celebration. And the baby.

“What’s going on, my love?” he asked, squeezing my thigh as he drove.

“Lyra and I were just talking about making a birth celebration for me when the baby’s born,” I said, rubbing my belly.

“Aw man, I hate parties,” he said. I couldn’t imagine Blade at a party and being a social butterfly. The thought made me giggle. He was far from that, so I understood why he was grumpy about the idea.

When we reached the pack house, Blade held my hand as we walked up the driveway and to the front door. As we walked inside, I saw a big three-tier cake with white frosting all over it on the dining room table. Laurent was smiling proudly behind it. Mason was doing pushups in the living room.

“Oh!” I squealed. “What’s the cake for?”

“I got it to celebrate our positive pregnancy test,” said Laurent.

“I’m trying to get some exercise in before I try that dangerous stuff,” panted Mason, sweat beading off his forehead. He was shirtless, his back bare and his muscles visibly straining.

“Mason, you can have a cheat day occasionally,” I laughed.

“No, babe,” he grunted, doing more reps.
