“I can hold Lacy for a bit,” said Keera quickly, and I carefully set her in Keera’s arms.
Tiana handed me a tissue, and I gently dabbed my tears away, trying not to smear my mascara.
“I’m just so happy,” I said. “Believe it or not, I never had a birthday growing up or anything special done for me. I’m glad you guys came.”
“Of course,” said Tiana. “I wouldn’t miss this at all. If you’re Jade’s friend, we’re all friends.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to bring the mood down,” I said.
Keera placed a calming hand on my other arm. “Don’t apologize. Omegas don’t have it easy, you know. I was auctioned off, just like you. Jade told me your story.”
“But aren’t you a doctor?” I asked incredulously. I couldn’t believe she had also been auctioned to her pack and managed to find true love.
“Not everything is what it seems,” she said, smiling warmly. “I was lucky it was Jatix who chose me. If it had been anyone else, I doubt I would be where I am today.”
A boy who looked to be seven years old came up to Keera, and he stared at the baby.
“Is that your son?” I asked.
“Yep, Lio, say hi to the ladies. Don’t be rude,” said Keera, hugging him to her and kissing him on the cheek.
“Hi,” he said, looking embarrassed and looking back down at the baby. “She’s cute.”
“Isn’t she?” said Keera. It made my heart warm to see him touch Lacy’s hand.
“Looks like the party started already,” said Princess Lyra, making her way through everyone towards me.
She was holding Gabe and Manny’s hands who each had red lollipops in their other hands. Lyra had on a fancy purple dress with teardrop earrings, her blond hair piled high on her head.
“The princess is here too?” asked Tiana, incredulously staring at the princess. “She’s always dressed to impress.”
“She’s my son’s half-sister,” I explained. Then, when Tiana looked confused, I chuckled. “It’s a long story.”
Lyra had volunteered to watch Gabe at the castle while Jade and my pack prepared everything for the party. When I tried to help, Jade wouldn’t hear of it, so I stayed with Lacy in the house the entire time.
“Oh dear, the men are playing football,” said Keera amused, watching her delta throw a football in the air with his massive strength. The men would constantly look over at their omega to see if we saw any impressive moves they made.
After we ate food, talked, and gossiped some more- it was time for pictures. I carried Lacy as Jade tried to position my pack around me perfectly. Alex and Jack were on either side of me, with Gabe directly in front of me. The rest of my pack fanned out around us, and I tried to smile for every picture. It was tough to keep a smile on all day, especially when a camera was on me. It wasn’t like when Blade recorded me getting rutted by Alex. Myface heated at the memory, and I knew in half of my pictures, my face was probably red.
“So cute!” shouted Jade as she looked at the photos. She was the only single omega in this entire gathering who wasn’t matched to a pack. I hoped one day she would find a pack who adored her.
“You’re so beautiful,” said Alex, kissing me. Everyone who saw us let out whoops and cheers.
“And we love you,” said Jack, kissing my cheek. “I saw you crying earlier. Why were you crying?”
“This all feels special to me,” I said. “You can call it tears of joy.”
Laurent brushed the side of my face with his finger. “We understand, sweetheart.”
“I swear once this day is over, I’m making love to you,” growled Alex in my ear.
My center clenched in desire.
I couldn’t wait for him either. For all of them. And that was all I ever wanted. No amount of power or riches in the world would ever fill the void I had before.
A pack who adored me. A pack who cared.
