Before any of them could say anything else, she looked back at her computer and started to work. She was not going to get away with that. He was going to ask her some questions and she wasn't prepared for that.

“Well, I'll see you later,” Michael said.

“Maybe all of our girls can have a play date sometime soon,” Leo said. “I'll get in contact with you and some of the other Daddies.”

“Sounds good,” Mac replied.

“Janie, don't fight your Daddy on any naps. And drink your water,” Michael said. “I don't want to have to see you for being sick or dehydrated for a long time.”

She looked at him and nodded her head. Mac wasn't her Daddy, but she wasn't up for an argument right now. She also didn't want to embarrass Mac in any way. Janie was going to have to have a conversation with him. Had he told them that they were together?

Leo and Michael left the room and her phone went off again. She flinched and picked it up, reading through a couple of them.

Donald

Such a dirty little slut

Donald

You’ll be begging me to take you back and I’ll make you work for it.

Donald

He’s just using you for sex. The only good thing about you is your body.

Donald

We’ll get your tubes tied before anything happens. Don’t want another evil brat.

Tears pulled in her eyes as her hands started to shake. Why was Donald sending her these messages? Why was he being so rude? Why did she deserve this?

“Is everything okay?” Mac asked.

She blinked several times before looking at him and nodding her head. “Yeah.”

“Just your authors messaging you?”

She nodded her head again. “Yep. Just telling me about the sad book one of them is writing.”

It was another lie. They were stacking up and tearing her apart inside. She could feel the knot starting to form in her stomach from all the lies she had told him. Why couldn't she just tell him? Maybe if she did tell him he would back off and try to find somebody else.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

JANIE

Mac had decided for lunch that he was taking them out to eat. Janie didn't know where but he said that she would love it. Hopefully it was someplace friendly towards kids. Janie was worried that people wouldn't like Eleanor being with them. Normally she didn't mind but she wanted to be conscious of other people.

“I thought since you liked this place before that we could come again,” Mac said as he pulled into the parking lot.

She looked up and saw the place that he had taken her when her car broke down. She did love the food here, it was amazing. And there's definitely things that Eleanor could eat.

“Thank you,” she gently said.

She waited for him to come around and help her out of the car before she got Eleanor out. Much to her dismay, they had fallen into a pattern. He would normally help her out and then either one of them would get Eleanor. It was almost unspoken because they had done it so many times. Things were definitely going to be hard when things ended between both of them.

“Let's go grab a table in the back like last time,” Mac said. She nodded her head and made her way towards the exact tablethey set up before. What were the odds that the table would be empty?

Janie placed Eleanor down before she sat down right next to her. She was hoping to put distance between Mac and herself so she didn't have to sit right next to him. Ever since the guys had left the office, Mac had kept a watchful eye on her. Whenever her phone went off, he would look at her and she would fidget. Not all of the texts were from her ex-husband, but the majority of them were.
