"Can you come to me, Princess?" Oliver asked.
Should she go to him?
"We don't bite," Leo said. "Unless you want that."
He wiggled his eyebrows at her and she blushed. She wasn't expecting him to say that.
"Ah, I think our girl may like that," Oliver said and she didn't meet his eyes. "Princess. Look at me."
Hedda continued to look at the ground.
"Now," he commanded.
Her eyes met his and he gave her a small smile.
"Can you come here?" he asked.
But she knew he wasn't really asking. He wanted her near them. Hedda found herself walking over towards them but she stopped a couple feet in front of them. She wanted to be far enough away that she could run to the bathroom to hide.
Or attempt to run towards the bathroom. There was a high chance that she wouldn't even get a couple feet before they caught her. But it made her feel better that she had a slight chance. Even if she knew it wasn't likely.
"Here," Oliver pointed between his legs.
She let out a sigh and took a couple steps so she was in between his legs. His hands cupped her face, and she was looking at him.
"You're okay," he gently said. "Take a breath for us."
She took in a shaky breath and let it out. She hadn't even realized that her body was slightly trembling.
"Such a good girl," Leo said. "Our good girl."
Hedda closed her eyes and blushed. She absolutely loved hearing that come from their mouths. It made her feel all giddy inside.
"Now," Oliver said and she opened her eyes. "Do you want to sit on one of our laps as we talk, in between us, or you sitting on the bed and we're on the ground?"
She thought about it for a second. It was sweet that they would sit on the ground while she sat on the bed. It was almost like they wanted to show her that they weren't a threat.
What did she want? She knew she didn't want to sit on one of their laps. As much as she loved it, she couldn't think clearly, and she needed to when she told the story.
But she didn't know if she wanted to be in between them or have them on the ground. There were benefits to both but there were also cons.
Before she could overthink it, she spoke. "In between you on the bed."
Hedda hoped she didn't regret this. They could easily grab hold of her while she was talking. Part of her was counting on it but the other part didn't know if she wanted it to happen.
Would she break down if they touched her while she was telling her story? Would they let her be?
"Okay, Sweets," Leo said. "Hop on the bed."
She made her way over and sat down in between them.
"Talk when you're ready," Oliver said. "But know we're here for you."
She nodded her head and took in several deep breaths. Hedda didn't know if she could do this, but she knew she needed to.
"You know that Miles killed Jared," Hedda said. "Jared had a boss, Richard. He didn't like it when Miles killed him."
She kept her face tilted down so she couldn't see their reactions. She didn't want to see them and not be able to continue with the story.
