Oliver's phone went off and he couldn't help but already have a smile on his face. He had put a special sound on for this certain notification.
"Why are you smiling?" Leo asked.
Oliver looked at his phone and confirmed what he was already thinking.
"She's texting Storm," Oliver replied.
"Can you see what they're saying?"
Oliver shook his head. "Not on my phone. If I wanted to,I could but I haven't and don't plan on it unless she's in danger."
He wanted to respect her privacy. The only reason he had the notification on was if she tried to call nine one one or an unauthorized number. It was only in the beginning, and he really needed to take it off since they trusted her.
"She's no doubt asking if she should tell us or not," Leo said. "I knew when she asked to go to the bathroom something was up. It was out of the blue."
Oliver nodded his head. He knew Leo would have picked up on that.
"Storm and Hedda seem close," Oliver said. "Maybe we could get Storm to come visit for a little bit."
"I agree. We can ask Miles soon. Maybe once she calms down from everything," Leo said. "I don't want to overwhelm her."
Oliver put his phone away and walked over towards the bed. He didn't know how long she was going to take in the bathroom, and he wanted to be comfortable.
"Should we see if she's okay?" Leo asked.
"No," Oliver replied. "Give it a couple more minutes. If she doesn't come out, then we'll go knock and see."
He didn't want to rush her.
He sat down and both of them got comfortable as they waited for her to come out of the bathroom.
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
HEDDA
Hedda took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door. It was now or never. As she stepped out of the bathroom, her eyes immediately found both of them sitting on the bed, staring right at her.
Nerves ran through her body. Their stares were so intense and she was starting to reconsider telling them or not. Oliver widened his legs even further.
"Come here," Oliver said.
Hedda really considered turning around and hiding in the bathroom until they left. She didn't know how long it would take to wait them out, but she figured she could do it. Water and the toilet were in there so she was good for a while.
Right as she was about to turn around and head back in, Oliver started to speak again.
"We're a safe place for you. To talk, mess up, cry, be Middle, and when you're feeling extra stressed even a Little."
Hedda's eyes went wide at the end of his sentence. Howdid they know? She had never mentioned it to them before. She thought it was weird she was normally a Middle, but when she was particularly stressed, she regressed even further.
Part of her knew that there was no mold she needed to fit into. But she also hadn't heard of anyone else being a Middle and regressing further.
Was that even a thing?
Apparently it was, because she did it. But was she the only one? Hedda normally kept that side of her locked away, fighting it whenever she did get stressed. How had they figured that out? She tried to keep it away from them and thought she did a pretty good job at it.
"We know about that, but we'll talk about it later," Leo said. "First we need to talk about the incident that happened. Only if you want to."
She stared at them, not knowing what to do. They knew almost everything about her. Even things she hadn't told them.
