Oliver made quick work of taking the ropes off. As Leo held her, Oliver started to massage her arms where the ropes were. Part of her missed the feeling of the ropes against her skin. She wanted to continue to wear them, but she knew she told them to get it off of her.
They were doing what she asked and she couldn't complain about it.
"Everything is going to be okay," Leo said. "If you want to talk about what happened, we're here for you."
Hedda weakly shook her head. She didn't want to talk about anything. Especially not when all of that just happened.
A complete breakdown.
Who was she and why had she done that? It wasn't like her to break down in front of people. She was a strong person who cursed and kept her emotions together.
But Oliver and Leo were different in a way. They felt safe and it called out to her. They were breaking down the walls she had built around herself.
They broke down the walls. They weren't breaking them down because they didn't exist anymore.
"I think it would be a good time to talk about it," Leo gently said. "But no pressure. We just want what's best for you."
"We're here for you. We're your safe place to be you."
Hedda closed her eyes again as she felt tears threaten to spill down her face. She didn't do anything to deserve them. She had killed someone which should've made her not worthy of them.
Because she wasn't.
"You're safe," Leo whispered as he held her tighter.
"Such a sweet girl," Oliver whispered as he ran his hand through her hair.
She opened her eyes and looked at Oliver. He was sitting right in front of her with a small smile on his face.
"So brave," he said.
She shook her head. She wasn't brave at all. She never had been.
"Whenever you want to talk, we'll be here for you," Oliver said.
"I killed someone," she barely whispered.
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
HEDDA
Everything was so quiet in the room after she said that. Hedda closed her eyes as she felt Leo stiffen beneath her. She didn't want to look at Oliver, afraid of what his facial expression was like. It was probably horror and disgust. Who wouldn't be?
Hedda pushed against his arms, trying to get out of Leo's embrace. She needed to get away from them before they said or did anything. What awful things were they going to tell her that she already didn't know about herself?
But his arms didn't let go of her. If anything, they got a little tighter around her to keep her in place.
"Let me go," she said, trying to push away.
She didn't want to hear their nasty words towards her. She already had enough of that in her head and her nightmares. She didn't need any more.
"I'm not going to let you go," Leo said. "Might as well stop trying to get out."
But that didn't stop her. She didn't want to be in his embrace right now.
"Can you explain what you mean?" Oliver asked.
She opened her eyes and locked in with him. "Fuck you!"
