She knew his threat wasn’t idle. He was serious and angry. Why was he doing this? Why was he so hellbent on her coming back and staying with him? Why did he have something against Oliver and Leo? They were great guys.
"Don't fucking think I won't. I don't want them fucking near you. You tell me now or so help me, you'll regret it," Rogan growled through the phone. “I knew I shouldn’t have fucking let you go to Missouri. If I knew you would be staying with them, I would’ve locked you up in the dungeon.”
Before she could say anything, a hand picked up the phone. Her eyes went wide as she stared at Oliver who held the phone, Leo was standing right next to him.
"You don't get to fucking say things like that to her," Oliver growled into the phone. "She said she was fucking fine, and she meant it. Listen to her. Think about her and pull out that stick that's up your ass."
Hedda could hear Rogan start to say something, but she watched as Oliver hung up the phone. She quickly looked back down at her hands, not wanting to see their facialexpressions. Why did her brother demand that she call him? Why did he have to ruin things?
Was she letting Oliver and Leo take advantage of her? Were they manipulating her? Hedda didn't think they were, but maybe Rogan was right, and she wasn't in the right mind frame to make decisions.
"So much for trying to get on his good side," Leo said.
She still didn't understand why they were trying to get on Rogan's good side. No one tried to do that, and she was confused. Were they feeling okay?
"He upset our girl. That's unacceptable. Brother or not," Oliver said. "I don't give a shit if he stays mad at us for the rest of our lives. He has no right to speak to Hedda like that. Or anyone as a matter of fact."
More tears pooled in her eyes and she tried blinking several times to get rid of them. She couldn't cry, not now. Oliver and Leo couldn't see how much her brother affected her. How much his words hurt.
Hedda felt the couch dip on both sides, signifying the twins had sat down next to her.
"Are you okay?" Leo gently asked.
She pulled her head up, squared her shoulders and looked over at Leo. She needed to show them that she was okay after everything that just happened.
"I'm fucking fine," she said and got up from the couch.
Before any one of them could say anything, she started to walk towards the stairs to get away from them.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
HEDDA
Hedda was currently sitting in her room, trying to wrap her brain around everything that just happened. Her brother had told her she wasn't able to make decisions herself, Oliver and Leo weren't good for her, and she needed to come home.
Oliver had told her brother off, something she had never seen happen before, and he was still alive. She had seen a couple people tell Rogan off, but they ended up dead within an hour of them doing it. Was Oliver going to be killed now? Should she worry about him or tell him what could happen?
Why had her brother waited until now to contact her? Why didn't he contact her before? Did he not like that she was staying with two men?
Hedda knew it was different from where she originally told him she would be staying. Michael was in a relationship with Monroe. The twins were interested in her and were single. Was that his problem? Or had they done something before to Rogan?
She didn't know how she felt about her brother wanting to talk to her. She was mad that he waited so long to try and contact her. Did he not care about her anymore? She knew something had changed, but she didn't think it had changed that much.
But Hedda was stuck on why her brother didn't like Oliver and Leo. Was it because they were men that were interested in her? Oliver and Leo were great men. Even though she didn't want to admit it, they had been helping her. She didn't like it and didn't want it, but little by little they had started to tear down her wall she had built around herself.
Oliver and Leo cared about her and told her everyday. They helped her through a lot, showed her they were here to stay.
Did her brother not like that? Did he not want someone to care about her?
Hedda could feel the frustration start to build up inside of her. Why did she care so much? Why did she care about her brother and why didn't he like Oliver and Leo? Shouldn't she be happy he wanted her back so she could get away from Oliver and Leo?
That was her plan all along. Get away from Oliver and Leo because she didn't deserve them. They didn't know she had killed someone, and they wouldn't want a murderer.
But Hedda wasn't happy. She didn't want to leave them. She had grown attached, something she didn't want, but she had.
"Hedda?" Oliver knocked as he walked into the room. She didn't turn around to look at them. "Everything is going to be okay."
Everything wasn't going to be okay. How could he say that? Her brother had threatened to come get her. Oliver had cursed at him and hung up. Everything wasn't okay and it wouldn't be.
