What did he mean?

"Not because I hated you for it, but because I wanted to shelter you from that. I never wanted you to kill someone," Rogan said. "I didn't want that on your hands. It shouldn't be on your hands. I should have been there and known that Richard was going to do something."

"You couldn't have known," she whispered. "You couldn't have known that it was going to happen."

"But I should have!" he yelled.

Hedda took a deep breath in. He was really gutted about this.

"I don't blame you," she said. "You couldn't have known that was going to happen."

"But I should have," Rogan replied. "I should've known."

"Don't blame yourself. You couldn't have known. Please."

Rogan looked away from the screen for a second. He had to know it wasn't his fault.

"I want you to be happy," Rogan said. "But I wanted you to be happy here. I didn't like it when Oliver and Leo helped you out."

"Why?" she asked.

"Because I wasn't the one helping you. I should've protected you and I should've been able to help you. You are my sister, and I didn't know how to handle it. I never had to help someone before with this."

Hedda stayed silent. He needed to get whatever was on his chest off and she didn't want to interrupt him.

"So, when Oliver and Leo were helping you, I felt guilty. I hadn't been helping you when I should've."

"It's not your fault."

Rogan sighed. "I know, but I couldn't help but feel guilty about it. It shouldn't have happened."

Hedda nodded her head. No matter how much she talked to him or told him it was okay, he wasn't going to come to terms. It was going to be his doing.

That was what Papa and Daddy told her. That they had just patiently waited for her and gave her nudges every once in a while.

"I just want you to be happy," Rogan said. "I now know Oliver and Leo make you happy. I have to come to terms with that."

"Thank you," she whispered. "And I forgive you. I know before you even say it, but I just wanted to let you know that I forgive you."

Rogan nodded his head but didn't say anything. After a couple of seconds, he gave her a smile.

"Are you truly happy with them?" he asked.

"Yes," Hedda gently said. "I really am and I would like for you to be okay with it."

He blinked several times, almost like he didn't know what to say.

"And I would like you to give me your blessing to be with them," she said. "I care about your opinion, and I want you to be okay with this."

Rogan sighed. "As long as you're happy with them, you'll have my blessing. But if they do something bad towards you, I'll murder them."

Hedda had no doubt he would actually do that. She just had to make sure that whenever she talked to him, she was happy. She didn't want him to come here and kill them.

"You won't have to do that," Hedda said. "Well, maybe you can threaten them whenever they punish me."

Rogan snorted.

"No," Rogan said. "If they punish you, you probably deserved it. You are a naughty girl."
