"What are you thinking?" Papa asked as he ran his hand through her hair.

"You two," she mumbled.

She never thought she would like someone playing with her hair, but any time Papa or Daddy did it, she melted. It felt amazing.

"Oh, are you?" Daddy said. "And what are you thinking about us?"

"I'm lucky," she said, opening her eyes.

Papa and Daddy were sitting right behind her so when she looked, she could see their faces.

"We're lucky," Papa said.

Hedda closed her eyes. All of them were lucky to have each other. Papa continued to run his hands through her hair and she felt herself relaxing even more.

"So good," she mumbled. "So good." She wanted him to do this for hours. She could fall asleep to this.

"Sweets?" Papa asked. "Can we ask you a couple of questions?"

Hedda kept her eyes closed. "Sure."

She didn't know what they wanted to ask, but she wasn't too worried. What did she have to worry about? They were here with her and that's all that mattered right now.

"Did you eat meals while you were here?" Papa asked. "No lying either."

"No," she whispered.

"Why?"

"I wasn't hungry. I missed you guys so much. Even if I was hungry, I couldn't get food."

Papa's hand stiled on her head.

Shit. She hadn't meant to say that.

"What do you mean you couldn't get food?" Daddy asked.

Hedda stayed silent. She didn't want them to be mad at Rogan. What he did was wrong, but it was in the past now.

"Hedda," Daddy said. "Answer."

"Rogan locked me in my room," she mumbled.

"What. The. Fuck," Papa said. "Why the fuck did he lock you in the room?"

"He didn't want me to escape."

"So did they bring you food?"

"Breakfast, lunch, and dinner," Hedda said. "But I didn't eat any of it and they took it away after a while. No one came to the door unless it was to drop food off."

She knew how it sounded. It was bad. She had begged for anyone to help her.

"Did you eat at all?" Daddy asked.

"Some," she replied. "But it wasn't a lot. Most of it was bland oatmeal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and it changed for dinner."

"I'm going to talk to Rogan about this," Papa said. "That is unacceptable. Someone should have watched you to make sure you ate. They should have made sure you had snacks as well."
