She didn't disagree, but the people probably had better things to do than cater towards her. They never did when she lived with Rogan so why would they start now?
"That isn't going to fly anymore," Papa said. "You're going to be eating all three meals and having snacks."
"Okay."
She wasn't going to argue with him. Not when it was going to go nowhere.
"You broke rules," Daddy said. "You know eating and drinking is a rule and you didn't do it."
"Did you eat?" Hedda asked as she opened her eyes.
She was genuinely curious if they ate while she was gone.
"It's not about us," Papa said.
"I just wanted to know," she said, rolling her eyes.
"No rolling your eyes and no attitude," Daddy said.
"I just wanted to know!" She raised her voice. "How do you expect me to eat meals when I was worried and scared I would never see you two again? Did you two eat or were you worried about finding me?"
Hedda was still laying on the ground as Papa continued to run his hands through her hair. No doubt he was trying to calm her down some, but she wasn't going to.
This was serious and she wasn't going to back down. How could they expect her to eat when she thought they hadn't.
"We definitely ate more than you," Papa said.
"I don't think I should be punished for it!" she said. "It's not fair."
"Life isn't always fair," Daddy said. "Sometimes it's hard and we don't know why. You know what you did was unacceptable. Eating is important and you know that."
"I wasn't thinking," she mumbled. “I wasn't thinking about anything else but you two. I was worried I would never see you guys again."
"We'll talk about it," Papa said.
She let out a sigh and closed her eyes again. They were going to talk about it and bring it up to her. They were a welloiled machine. Always on the same page because they talked.
Did they have disagreements? Hedda suspected they did, but they must do it when she wasn't around.
"Skipping meals isn't good," Daddy said. "We just want what's best for you."
"Sorry," She whispered, feeling bad now.
Did she make them worry a lot? She hadn't even thought about that at the moment. Her only concern was missing them and never being able to see them again. They didn’t know her brother had planned to marry her off to someone else.
"We'll be watching you closely and making sure you eat," Daddy said. "We'll also be watching and making sure you drink and sleep enough."
"All of those are important to stay healthy," Papa mentioned. "We don't want you getting sick."
"Okay," she whispered.
She knew no matter how much arguing she did, they were going to do it. There was no way out of this. It was probably better for her to allow them to do this.
Maybe later down the road she'll give them sass for this. Argue that she doesn't need it, but right now wasn't the time.
They had just gotten each other back.
"Everything starts now," Papa said. "You've got bags under your eyes from not sleeping."
