Hedda was used to her brother always being on his phone. Something was always needing his attention and right now was no different.

"Everything okay?" she whispered.

Sometimes he didn't like her asking questions related to the family business. She didn't know much, but she knew most things weren't legal. But he never allowed her to get involved with any of it.

He wanted her clean of it all.

"No," he said. "Sorry to cut this short but I need to go deal with something."

Was he actually sorry or was it just the polite thing tosay? It didn't seem like he was enjoying asking them questions or being in their presence.

Rogan got out of his seat and walked towards his office. Hedda hoped everything was okay. Even if she didn't agree with some of the things she heard he was doing, he was still her brother and she loved him.

Hedda turned around and looked at Papa and Daddy.

"You look tired," Papa said as he cupped her cheek.

"I'm not," she replied.

But she kind of was. She could lie and say she slept while they were gone, but that was a lie. It wasn't really sleeping and they knew that.

She had seen herself in the mirror and she had bags under her eyes.

"Ah, don't lie to us, Princess," Daddy said. "You know you're tired. There is nothing wrong with that."

She looked down at her lap.

"Let's go tuck you in bed," Papa said.

"I don't want to leave you guys," she said.

"We'll be here in the morning," Daddy said. "We're not leaving you."

Daddy stood up and held her in his arms. She didn't want to leave them yet. She wasn't ready to. They couldn't make her.

"I need to go to my room real quick and grab something," Papa said.

Daddy carried her up the stairs and towards her room. Were they really going to leave her in the room by herself?

"Go brush your teeth and use the bathroom," Daddy said as he sat her down on the ground. "I'll be right here."

Hedda hesitated for a second. She hadn't left their sides since she first saw them. Were they really going to be here when she got back or was she going to wake up from a dream?

"How about I stay with you," Daddy said.

She nodded her head and they both walked to the bathroom where she did her business and got ready for bed. Daddy turned his back and had the water running while she went to the bathroom.

If they would have suggested this before she got taken by Rogan, she would have screamed at them and told them no. But this was different. She had been taken from them. Even though she was a Middle and a little more independent, it didn't matter right now.

"Such a good girl," Daddy said. "Let's go get you tucked into bed."

As they walked back into her room, Papa was sitting on her bed holding Lila.

Tears pooled in her vision as she ran towards them. She hugged Papa as she grabbed onto Lila and held her close.

"You brought her!" she sobbed.

"Of course we did," Papa said. "We couldn't leave Lila back in Missouri while we got you. Lila missed you. We all missed you."
