Who was he with? Why was he saying that?
"We want to fucking see her!"
Her head perked up at that voice. It sounded like Daddy's voice.
What was he doing here? Had he and Papa come to get her?
"I'm just hearing things," she whispered to herself.
Her body was slowly starting to wake up from the drug Angelo had given her. She didn't know what it was, but her body felt tired and sluggish. Just like he said.
"I'm never going to forgive you for this," Hedda said as she turned towards Angelo.
"I'm sorry," Angelo replied. "I didn't want you to hurtyourself. You made yourself bleed! What else was I supposed to do?"
She turned her head. He made sense in what he said but she was still mad at him. She had talked to Angelo a couple of times about drugs and how she never wanted them used on her. Did he not remember that?
"I know you don't like drugs. I fucking remember, but how else was I supposed to calm you down?" Angelo said.
Hedda didn't reply.
"We have the right!" Papa said. "Has she been eating? Drinking enough?"
She shook her head. It couldn't be Papa. He wasn't here in New York. He doesn't know Rogan took her.
Then why did she hear Papa and Daddy's voice? Was her mind playing tricks on her.
"Stop playing tricks," she whispered as she hit her head.
"No hitting your head!" Angelo said.
"Do you hear them?" she asked.
Angelo nodded his head. Hope filled her. Was her Daddy and Papa really here?
She closely watched Angelo, waiting for a moment where she could slip out of the bed and make her way towards the door. She knew he could easily catch her if he was watching her. Maybe she would have a fighting chance if he was doing something.
"I need to go throw this away," Angelo said.
He was holding the needle in his hand. He never had a moment to get rid of it because Rogan left.
Hope filled her even more. She definitely had a chance to leave now since he would be going to thebathroom.
She pulled back the covers and slipped out of bed as he made his way into the bathroom. She carefully and quietly walked out of the room and made her way towards the top of the stairs.
She rounded the corner and sucked in a breath as she looked at Papa and Daddy.
They were really here.
Tears filled her eyes as she looked at them. They came back for her. They found her.
"Papa?" she whispered. "Daddy?"
Before they could say anything, she started making her way down the stairs. Her feet were moving too fast for her, and she felt herself tripping. Hedda grabbed onto the railing, catching herself before she could faceplant on the stairs.
"Hedda!" Papa yelled. "No running!"
"It's one of your rules," Daddy said.
