By now, the tears had started to run down her face. “I-I t-thought,” Charlotte sobbed and couldn’t finish her sentence.
Daddy sat on the ground and held her close to him. “It’s okay, cupcake. Take a couple deep breaths for me.”
He placed a hand on her chest and slowly breathed in to help ground her.
“Such a good girl,” he whispered in her ear. “Now, what gave you a fright?”
Charlotte took a deep breath in and felt the fear course through her again. She always wanted her Daddy to find her when they played.
“I t-thought you wouldn’t ever find me!”
Daddy held her tighter against him. “Not possible. Daddy will always find you. You’re Daddy’s little cupcake.”
Charlotte snuggled into his embrace and relaxed. She had worried he wouldn’t find her, and then she would be lost for forever.
The shrill of a phone ringing broke up their moment. Daddy quickly answered it and walked away. Charlotte knew that it was one of the wonders of the club. He normally never walked away from her unless it was one of the other owners.
Daddy never kept anything from her, but club business was his business and not hers. Charlotte didn’t mind because she knew she would get bored with all the admin stuff. She didn’t envy her Daddy in that regard.
Charlotte was happy to bake and come home to her Daddy or go to the club and sit in his office or play with other littles, like Janie.
Janie and Charlotte had gotten pretty close over the past few days. She was there more and more, and Charlotte saw Mac watching from a distance sometimes. Charlotte knew something was up the day Janie and her had met. The way Janie wouldn’t look at Mac in the eyes and had to leave once he got there.
Something was definitely up, and Charlotte was going to ask Janie the next time she saw her. She wanted to help her friend find a Daddy, and from what Charlotte had seen from Mac, he was perfect for her. Or, well, she thought he was perfect for Janie.
“Little cupcake?” Daddy called out.
Charlotte turned around and beamed up at her Daddy.
“Can I borrow some of your things? Clothes, bottle, diapers, and maybe a stuffie?” he asked.
What could he possibly want with her stuff? Why would he need to borrow it?
“There’s a little girl that Michael found who needs some things urgently. If you don’t want to let him borrow some of your things, we could go shopping together for some of the stuff she needs.”
Thoughts swirled through her mind. What could the little possibly need so urgently?
“She’s been hurt. I can’t say much more than that, but she doesn’t want to leave the house right now,” Daddy explained. “We wouldn’t be able to see her cause we don’t want to scare her anymore than she already is.”
“She can borrow my things,” Charlotte whispered.
“Thank you.” Daddy kissed the top of her head.
Charlotte watched as her Daddy started to get some things together and put them in a bag. She got up from her spot and walked over to him.
How could the little have gotten hurt? Who would hurt her? Why would someone hurt her?
“It’s okay, little cupcake. The girl is healing now. She’s in good hands with Michael. He’ll take care of her.” Her Daddy ran his hands through her hair.
“Otay,” she whispered, not feeling so sure about that.
She worried about her, and she didn’t even meet the girl yet. Would she ever meet the girl?
“I’m going to have Mac pick up this stuff and give it to Michael,” Daddy said.
“Why?” Charlotte looked up at him.
“Because my little cupcake needs me right now. I can see the worry on your face. We’re going to snuggle and relax together.”
