It didn’t take nearly as long as he thought it would.
He had a feeling there were a lot of pent-up emotions inside his boy, and he would need to do regular work to help uncork them. Just as he figured things were starting to really hurt, Vinnie started sobbing into the couch cushions, confessing in a halting, broken voice how scared he’d been. How utterly terrifying it had been to watch Tomas be taken away by the sheriff, not knowing if he was going to come back or if he was being ripped away from them before he and Mason really had a chance with him.
The words spilled out as Tomas helped him sit up, cradling him against his chest as Vinnie sobbed into his shoulder, clutching at him and probably ruining his suit jacket.
He shushed Vinnie when it seemed like he was finally winding down, rubbing his back, the tops of his thighs where they straddled his own, and the back of his head over his tight curls.
“You’re all right, gatito. Everything’s all right. I’m not going anywhere.”
He repeated the words over and over until Vinnie let out a loud, wet sigh against his neck. They would be fine, him and his boys and the club.
He’d make sure of it.
SUB CLUB INTERLUDE
Ollie
I think we should add Knuckles to the Sub Club
CJ
Did he tell you he’s a sub?
Mason
Knuckles is the tattoo artist, right?
Vinnie
The one who has never had a successful relationship with a woman?
Ollie
That’s him
And no he hasn’t told me… but come on
Kenneth
Ollie, you can’t force him into the club
We have to wait for him to be ready
Ollie
It worked for Penny!
Penny
Honestly, if you hadn’t driven me crazy about it for so long I might have come around sooner
CJ
See? Leave him be.
When he’s ready, we’ll be here for him.
