“Am I at least dressed properly for this occasion?” He asked gesturing to his jeans and shirt.
“You are not going to need to dress up for this occasion, don’t worry,” I assured him.
The cab pulled up outside an arena and Brandon was slowly realizing where we are.
I paid and tipped the driver and followed Brandon out of the cab.
“Surprise,” I said chuckling when he stood there caught in awestruck staring at the arena.
“How did you know?” He asked.
“Jake and Jared told me that you are a big fan of the Brooklyn Nets and I found out that they have a game tonight,” I explained.
“How were you able to get tickets?”
I shrugged. “It’s not front row tickets knowing that you would have liked it, but we are at least not sitting in the back as well.”
I chuckled when he embraced me with a hug—thanking me and holding me wrapped in his arms for a while before letting go.
“Good so far?” I asked hoping that I was at least doing alright for someone who has never done this.
“What about you, angel? Are you okay with this?” I planned the date and yet, he is worried about me.
I smiled at him. “Just because I don’t walk around announcing that I am a fan doesn’t mean I know what is going on and I learned that you sacrifice at least a few days of a year to do what their partner enjoys.”
Jaylin and Camille surely came in handy and helped me to come up with plans for tonight.
“Come on, I am pretty sure you want to get to your seats before the game starts and we still have to get some food and snacks,” I said, grasping his hand in mine and pulling him towards the entrance.
“Let me at least pay for it,” He offered.
“This is supposed to be your night where I am in charge of paying for everything.” I protested.
“Sash,” He pulled me to a halt and turned me around at the same time.
“I know that you don’t make a lot and I want you to at least use part of your income on yourself.”
“I appreciate the gesture, but I have tonight covered and I will be fine until the end of the tournament.” I have been saving up since I started working at Aunt Maggie’s pub.
“Let me do this tonight, please,” I begged.
It’s the least I can do after hurting him.
He nodded and then pulled me back into his arms. “But next time, I expect you to understand when I do the same and want to spoil you with gifts, good food, and more.”
“Deal,” I agreed, sealing the deal with a kiss.
“Now let’s go,” I urged—not wanting the tickets I bought to go to waste.
We finally made it inside and pushed through the chaotic crowd to at least get in an order for food, drinks, and snacks. A few people in the crowd recognized him, but they didn’t make a fuzz.
We collected our order and headed out to take our seats being in time catching the players warming up for the game.
Our seats weren’t in the front or the back, but close enough to the basketball court.
He rested his arm over the seat I was sitting on and leaned closer to me. “Are you regretting this?” He sounded worried and there was no reason he should be.
“Are you crazy? I am proud of you for what you’ve accomplished and I am nowhere jealous because before anyone else learned your name—I already knew your name.”
