“There was a loud crash and I couldn’t see, but I heard you. I heard you shouting for me.” I recalled and looked up at him with tears in my eyes. “You sounded so scared, and I wanted to answer you, but I couldn’t. I...”
“I know, I know...” Daxon whispered as he leaned in and cupped my face. “I was, but it’s okay now. You’re alright and the twins are fine.”
I remembered our disagreement and the last words I spoke to him. It all rushed back, and I just wanted to forget. Daxon didn’t love me and I ended it.
“But everything isn’t alright, Daxon.” I whispered as tears fell down my cheeks and my being trembled with hurt. “You don’t love me, and you never will.”
“Oh, princess...” He breathed as he wiped my tears and his own eyes glistened. “I’m so sorry I hurt you.”
“How could you?” I breathed.
“It scared me to love you, sweetheart.” Daxon admitted as he stared into my eyes, and something awakened inside them. “But the accident happened. It knocked you unconscious, and it made me realize something.”
“What?” I whispered.
“I feared losing you, princess.” He breathed as his forehead touched mine and his hands cupped my belly. “And our precious little babies growing inside of you.”
The tears fell from my eyes at an unstoppable pace, but I couldn’t stop them. His admission took my broken heart and pieces it back together. What he had once shattered was now whole.
“You were?” I asked in a small voice.
“I love you, Celeste Lovette. I love you so damn much.” Daxon whispered as his lips brushed mine and my heart melted for him. “I almost lost you, but it made me realize I can’t live without you.”
I cried tears of joy at his declaration of love, and he kissed me with passion. His protective arms wrapped around me, and I had never felt so whole. He made me complete. He was my missing piece.
“And I’m so in love with you.” I mumbled with happiness against his lips and moved over on the bed. “Get up here, daddy.”
We laughed as he cuddled up beside me and our babies laid in between us. There was just enough room for all of us and he caressed the hair from my face. His loving eyes gazed deep into my soul, and I couldn’t believe he was all mine. I couldn’t imagine my world without him.
“My wife lost her life, but I couldn’t let that happen to you. You challenged me, beat me at my game and gave me your heart. You mean everything to me.” Daxon breathed with love.
He brushed my hair behind my ear with the pad of his thumb caressing my cheek. His touch set me on fire and it never would burn out. Our flame was unstoppable, and so was our love.
But a thought stopped me in my tracks.
“What’s next for us?” I asked with uncertainty.
“Well, I love you and I won’t hide it anymore.” He declared with a smile and left me breathless. “All our secrets will unfold and the truth will be told.”
“Are you sure about this?” I asked with doubt. “It could ruin the company.”
“Then so be it.” He whispered with his face inches from mine. “I have a family to build and we have our entire future ahead of us.”
My smile was unstoppable and our love unbreakable. My future was no longer bleak and shone with certainty. A certain reality with my children’s father and our family. But as his lips caressed mine, one thought came to my mind.
Daddy completed me.
The End
