Charmer
It was now or never.
My textbooks clenched to my chest, I gazed down at them and frowned. The coffee had dried, but the stains and ruined pages were visible. I walked to the nearest garbage bin and tossed them inside. I dusted my hands of the beloved textbooks, but knew this opportunity was far more important. First impressions were everything and I might have blown it with Daxon Stark, but I sure as hell would not blow it with his son.
Today, I had dressed to impress and hopefully it paid off. I briefly fixed my hair and pushed the wavy wisps aside, but tugged at my purple skirt suit. I pressed my lips together, clasped my hands together and took a deep breath.
Here goes nothing...
My index fingers fiddled with one another as my nerves set in, but I pushed my worries aside and stepped closer to Dylan Stark. I placed my hands at my sides to stop the nervous twitch and tried to appear as confident as possible. At the moment, observing Dylan was my only option because another student had his attention and I patiently waited. I watched him gesture with his clean masculine hands and I could imagine the smell of fresh soap. He smiled at her, and kept eye contact.
That was, until they locked on mine over her shoulder.
Instant heat flushed my cheeks as his deep gaze burned into me with curiosity. He broke eye contact, and I’d nervously lick my lips. But his eyes caught the action and grabbed my attention once again.
“It was nice to meet you...” Dylan Stark told the student as he shook her hand and never broke eye contact with me. “Please excuse me.”
The student simply nodded her head and stepped aside. Dylan paid no attention and set his focus on me. The dark depths of his eyes lit up as he came closer and I could see the different shades of brown in his eyes. Electric sparks flew through the air, goosebumps rose over my skin and the hair stood up on my arms.
His face lit up, and his eyes narrowed together. “Have we met somewhere before? You just caught my eye and something about you seems so familiar?”
“I-I don’t think so...” I stammered with uncertainty and opened my mouth to speak, but no other words came out.
“I could swear I’ve met you prior to this?” Dylan frowned as he let out a soft chuckle and ran his hand through his hair. “Doesn’t matter, anyway.”
“Why do you think we’ve met before?” I asked out of curiosity.
“You just have a beautiful face that I can’t take my eyes off of.” Dylan gave a small smirk as his deep gaze ran across my face. “I’d remember this kind of beauty anywhere.”
“Well, beauty is overrated, but brains...” I giggled softly and tapped my forehead. “I’ve got that.”
Dylan chuckled, and the smoothness of it lingered in my ears. It was rich, wholesome and a sweet sound any girl could get used to. A smile beamed across his face and made me weak at the knees, but I held my composure. I couldn’t fuck this opportunity up. I would bet the inconsiderable amount of cash I had in my bank account that Mr. Dylan Stark was flirting with me. The son of the famous billionaire, Mr. Daxon Stark.
“I take it you gathered my name from the lecture?” He asked as he extended his hand and looked down at mine.
“Um, yes, and what a lecture it was.” I beamed as I extended my hand and he took mine in his grasp. “You’re very business minded for such a young age.”
“Twenty-four, to be exact.” Dylan smiled as he still held my hand and his thumb slowly moved over my skin.
“Excuse me?” I asked, puzzled by his remark.
“I’m twenty-four years old.” Dylan answered as his smile left his face and I missed it already. “I’m good at business, but sometimes I suck at conversation.”
I giggled like a crazy school girl, but cut it short when a pair of dark eyes caught my attention over Dylan’s shoulder. They were the same as Dylan’s, but cold and distant. They didn’t linger with amusement this time, but conveyed a threat loud and clear.
Stay away from my son.
I plastered a huge smile on my face just for him and turned my attention back towards Dylan. I didn’t know what his problem was, but I would not let him stop me from this opportunity. Dylan was interested in me. I was bright, eager and willing. Even if he was just flirting, we could still talk business, and it would help me get closer to my goal.
“We’re actually the same age.” I breathed as I gazed down at our hands intertwined and didn’t let go.
“Well, I’ll be damned...” Dylan whispered as his eyes locked with mine again and he licked his lower lip. “So, what’s a beautiful woman like you doing in business management?”
“It’s always been a dream of mine to run a company from the ground up.” I replied as I bit my lower lip and tingles ran up my spine.
“And what’s your name?” Dylan asked with curiosity.
“Celeste Lovette.” I breathed as the air sizzled around us, and he drew me to him.
