“Lovette Industries, I like the sound of that.” Dylan whispered with wonder as he looked off into the distance and his wonderful brain worked. “I can see it all now.”

I giggled, he chuckled, and our gazes locked. “I love the sound of that.”

Suddenly, a throat cleared. “Am I interrupting something?”

“Oh, dad, this is Celeste Lovette, a business student here at Lakeside University.” Dylan beamed as he dropped my hand and the connection calmed. “Isn’t she lovely?”

Mr. Stark roamed his eyes over me, from my wavy black hair all the way to my high heeled black shoes. His gaze burned and sizzled through my dress. It left me exposed. The intensity of him loomed over me with powerful force and my breath caught in my throat.

“Hm, lovely, indeed.” He simply muttered under his breath and made sure I heard every damn word.

“Do you have any advice for her?” Dylan asked with eagerness.

“There’s no time for leisure with business.” Daxon Stark replied as his gaze fumed into mine, but I held his stare. “Remember, son, this is strictly business. No time for pleasure.”

He turned his attention towards his son, and they exchanged looks. The air grew still, and an awkwardness took over. I don’t understand how one clumsy mistake could make a man act so cruelly. Even though I idolized him, he was an asshole in person.

Mr. Stark turned his icy eyes back towards me, but the amusement was back in them and it toyed with me. He wanted to play whatever sick little game he had up his expensive sleeves, but I wouldn’t have any of it. I turned away from his dangerous dare and gazed down at my hands.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have business to deal with.” Daxon Stark glared at me as his gaze burned and he turned his attention to the next eager student.

I smiled shyly down at my hands and took the hint to leave. I couldn’t bear to look up into Dylan’s eyes with the embarrassment that coursed through me. My heels turned, wispy black hair flew into my face, but his hand caught mine.

I stopped at his physical warmth, stunned, and gazed at his stunning good looks. His eyes shone with something I couldn’t describe, but it was far from pity. He didn’t speak a word but simply pushed his business card into the palm of my hand.

Moments passed before he released my hand and I stared down at the card. The turn of events shocked me and it had me lost for words. His father was blatantly clear and didn’t appear to be someone that anyone should mess with. He was powerful, overbearing and rich.

“This has nothing to do with business, but you’ve captivated me with your beauty. I’d like to wine and dine you. I want to show you a glamorous time.” Dylan whispered, and his eyes never left mine. “Please call me sometime, sooner rather than later.”

I gazed at him with reluctance and caught sight of his father over his shoulder. “But your dad doesn’t seem to agree.”

“Forget about him, Celeste. My father is always about business, but there’s more to life than just work. You’re an intelligent woman and I’d love to show you just how beautiful you are.”

My body temperature rose at his words and my cheeks turned crimson. My entire being was on fire and he lit the match. The flame within me crackled with chemistry and I couldn’t deny it.

I tapped his business card against my hand and playfully smiled up at him. “You’re quite the charmer, aren’t you, Dylan Stark?”

“Oh, you know it.” He smirked wickedly towards me and licked his juicy lips.

I returned his smirk and turned my back to him. I didn’t promise to call him, but left his imagination to play a wild game. Dylan Stark’s eyes burned into my backside as I walked away lost in wonder, but a second pair of eyes also burned with something I couldn’t describe.

And they were his father’s.
