Page 50 of Make Me Feel Again

The creeping around is getting harder, and the longer it goes on, the more of a cold shoulder Boh gives us. He gave his notice at work with Cash, telling him he needs a fresh start. Bridge said she would speak to him, but I haven’t heard whether she has. I hate that Boh is being like this, as I’ve always had such a great relationship with him. He would always speak about stuff, but he hasn’t texted me in two months. I’m convinced he knows, but Cash thinks it’s something else. Bohdi won’t talk to him unless it has to do with work.

I haven’t stopped thinking about Cash and what he said. I’m finally going to tell him I love him tonight. I can’t hold it in anymore, and I fall even harder for him every day, with the simple text messages he sends that brighten my day and the flowers just randomly showing up. He’s already texted, telling me he’s not drinking tonight, so he can “take me home,” but that’s the cover for me to stay with him.

Cash is having a New Year’s party tonight. I’m not sure who all is going, but Toni will be here soon, as we’re going together. Rachel has also been invited, but she is out with other people tonight.

Toni hasn’t been herself lately. A part of me thinks it may have to do with Kaleb, but I’ve never known her to get like this over a boy. I keep trying to get it out of her, but she says it’s just work. I’m hoping to get her drunk enough tonight to tell me what’s wrong.

“Babycakesssss,” Toni shouts through the apartment. I smile.

“In here.”

“Wowza,” she says from behind me. I spin around, doing a little twirl and moving from foot to foot, popping my hip, with my hand resting on it.

“You look hot as fuck. Mr. Breeder is going to want to fuck a thousand babies into you tonight.”

I scrunch up my face. “Please don’t ever call him Mr. Breeder again. Gross.”

“Where did you get this dress, you look fire.” Walking over to me running her hand up and down the backless dress. It’s another red dress, but this time, it’s short and tight. Cash said when we were at the cabin how much he loved me in red, so I wanted to wear red for him tonight.

“Silk.” She hums.

“It’s actually not new. I borrowed it from Rach.” I turn around and start packing my clutch.

Toni’s phone pings, she opens it, and a sad smile lands on her face. She isn’t as chatty or as loud as she normally is.

“Ton,” I whisper.

She looks up at me.

“Are you okay?”

“Of course, I’m always okay.” She smiles but it’s not her usual smile. I frown at her.

“Don’t treat me as if I don’t know you at all. What’s going on?” Her eyes search mine, as if she’s not sure what’s wrong with her either. She frowns and huffs, and then her phones pings again.

“Uber is here.” She jumps up, plastering on her signature smile, but I know.

“Toni,” I say, frowning.

“Can we talk later? I want to have a good night.” She frowns, staring into my eyes.

“Okay, but you promise you will talk to me later?”

“I promise.” She kisses my head and walks toward my apartment door.

“Let’s go get drunk, babyyy,” Toni shouts while walking out of my apartment.

By the time we reach Cash’s, the party is in full swing, there are people everywhere as we walk in, so Toni and I squeeze through. Some people from Cash’s work stop me to say, “Hi.” I search the room for Cash but don’t see him.

“Rylee.” Bridge comes out of nowhere, engulfing me in a tight hug. I squeeze her back.

“Hey, Bridge.” Bridge sways slightly as I lean away from her.

“You on the heavy stuff already?” I smirk.

“Yeah, I was drinking while sorting the food. I hadn’t realized how much I had actually drunk.” She hiccups.

“Where are Bohdi and Cash,” Toni injects, probably knowing I’m dying to see Cash. Bridge grabs Toni’s and my hand and drags us toward the kitchen. People surround the island in the middle, chatting and doing shots.
