“You see things that no woman should ever have to see, and I don’t mean that in a sexist way. You’re too pure and good for this world, but I’m a selfish asshole that wants you by my side.”

I sit up and pull him toward me. “Don’t say that. You are the best boyfriend I have ever had. I feel incredibly safe and protected when I’m with you. I feel valued, appreciated, and loved. And that’s all thanks to you. You are more incredible than you realize.”

His cheeks turn a light pink, causing my heart to swell.

When was the last time someone told him they appreciated him? When was the last time he felt loved?

Do I say it often enough?

Spencer takes a step back and pulls his t-shirt over his head before pushing his lounge shorts down. I stare at him with my mouth slightly agape as he changes into his favorite navy blue game day suit.

“I think we need to go suit shopping.” I blurt out.

He spins around, surprised. “Why?”

“Because you wear the same two to three suits all the time. I think you should mix it up and get something more fitted.”

He looks down at his suit. “More fitted than this?”

I picture him in a well-fitted suit and lick my lips. “Oh yeah. Custom tailored to your body.”

He smirks. “You just want to ogle me, but guess what? Other women will be staring, too.”

Shrugging, I say, “Let them. I’m the one that gets you at the end of the night.”

He growls and stalks over to me, pinning me against his mattress. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Savannah Whitlock.”

I bat my eyelashes at him. “And what game would that be?”

My chest rises and falls with my heavy breathing. Truth be told, I love the dangerous side to him.

The darker, unhinged side. The side that pushes me to my sexual limits and leaves me craving more.

He leans down, pushing his face into the crook of my neck. Inhaling, he groans and says, “I’ve never missed a game unless I was injured, but you’re tempting me to miss tonight’s game.”

I swallow loudly, feeling pleasure shoot straight to my core.

“I want to tie you up and have my wicked way with you, Savannah. I want you begging for more as you scream my name. I want to commit every inch of you to memory.”

His warm breath tickles my neck. My nipples pebble, demanding his unwavering attention.

I clamp my eyes shut and suppress a moan before whispering, “Okay.”

Shaking my head, I add, “Later, after the game. I can’t let you miss a game, and I can’t miss a game.”

He stands up, pulling me with him. “Tonight, after the game, you’re mine.”

I kiss the stubble on his jaw. “Something to look forward to.”

We head to the arena and go our separate ways. I head to the team shop and buy a silk scarf with the team’s logo on it to hide my bandage. Sure, it might not be part of the uniform, but I’m sure Avery will understand.

At least I hope she does.

I lightly tie it around my neck before heading down to the ice girl’s locker room.

As soon as Avery sees me, she pulls me to the side. “Tell me it isn’t true.”

“Uh, what? I need more than that if I am going to answer.”
