“Yeah, yeah, tease me all you want, but I wasn’t the first Shark to fall in love, and I won’t be the last.”

As we are filing out of the church, a man runs at us yelling, “You let that bitch in here? After everything her family has done? Jax would roll over in his grave, but he’s not even there yet!”

Giuseppe snaps his fingers, and two Rossi men intervene and restrain the man.

Francesca gasps and apologizes to Giuseppe. “I’m only here to pay my respects. I never intended any drama or outbursts.”

He nods at her before turning his attention to his men. His look is murderous, and his tone sends chills down my spine. “Carry him to the side of the church. I need to have a word with him.”

Yikes, I wouldn’t want to be that man.

We stand still until Giuseppe, his men, and the stranger round the corner.

I blow my breath out of my mouth. “Come on. Let’s get out of here before word spreads that Francesca Marino attended a Rossi funeral.”

Francesca scoffs. “Or worse, we run into my mother.”

Chapter Eleven

SAVANNAH

Piles of crumpledup paper and small empty plastic containers of beads cover my bed, leaving little to no room for me.

Between finishing the beading for the matching necklace and bracelet and the hours of research I did on Arturo Marino and the Savannah Sharks, my head is spinning in circles.

Arturo is a multi-millionaire. Hell, he’s close to a billionaire. I’m pretty sure if all of his assets were seized, it would be over one billion.

He owns several yachts, a shipyard, the gentleman’s club I worked at, a mansion, two vacation houses, and now the Savannah Sharks.

There’s no telling how many assets he has that I couldn’t find through a simple internet search.

I bet the undercover cop, Jacob, and the FBI agent, Tyler know. They probably have access to every name, nickname, and alias Arturo has used for his entire life.

They’ve probably been tracking his whereabouts and money flow for months, if not years. Especially to try to get me,a complete stranger, to get closer to them and uncover their deepest and darkest secrets.

I throw the crumpled pages in the trash can under my desk and put the empty bead containers in their spot on my small bookshelf.

I’ll have to go to the craft store and buy more because I am completely out and already have future plans with them.

A loud knock sounds on the suite door. Spencer is still out of town, so it’s probably for Justine.

I continue cleaning off my bed before pulling the cover up and smoothing it out.

The person at the door knocks again, this time harder and more incessant.

“Ugh.” I groan as I make my way out into the main common area and open the door.

A delivery person is standing on the opposite side of the hallway holding a bouquet of mixed flowers and a box of assorted chocolates from Harry & David.

“Are you Savannah Whitlock?” He says while glancing down the hallway.

“Yes.”

He lets out a long sigh. “Oh, good. This is the third suite I’ve tried. I have a delivery for you.” He says as he hands over the crystal vase full of flowers and the chocolates.

I turn the box over, expecting a note or letter from the sender. “Who are they from?”

He shrugs and turns toward the elevator. “I don’t know. I was only hired to deliver them, but there should be a card in the flowers.”
