He walks me to the driver’s door and I lean against it so I can face him.
I narrow my eyes at him before laughing. “You might be right, but it doesn’t make much of a difference now, does it?”
He stares at me. His eyes bore into mine as his Adam’s apple bobs in his throat. “You’re as fiery as your hair.”
I prop my hands on my hips. “Is that a bad thing?”
He shakes his head as he takes a step closer to me. “It makes me want to get to know you more. You’re spunky and feisty, but soft and caring. There’s a deep part of me that craves to be in your presence.”
My body leans into him, needing to be closer.
It’s too soon. We haven’t even been on a date yet and my core aches to feel him inside of me.
It was never like this with Connor. Sure, we had sex and dated, but there wasn’t ever a craving like this. A craving to keep him talking just so I can hear his voice. A craving just to be near him.
Is it because I saw Connor and Justine together? Is it because I’ve had a horrible day and this is a great way to forget about my problems for a while?
I place my hand on his chest. “Well, let’s go. We have good food and great conversation waiting for us.”
“I have a restaurant in mind, if you want to follow me.”
I nod before unlocking my door and sliding in. As he walks to his car, I let out a shaky breath.
“I’ve got to calm down. He’s going to think there’s something wrong with me.”
I follow him to the other side of town and park next to a brick building. There’s nothing around to clue me into what type of restaurant this is.
Is it an upscale restaurant? Should I have offered to go home and change into nicer clothes?
A knock on my window causes me to yell out loud. “Oh my God!”
Looking over, I see Spencer grinning at me.
Getting out, I ask, “Where are we?”
“At one of my favorite places outside of work.”
I follow him to the front of the brick building. “You love to work?”
I mean, that’s a good thing. To love your job. People say if you love what you do, then it won’t feel like work.
“Well, there are some perks to my line of work, and most of the time, it’s fun, but I don’t love all the travel. It’s exhausting flying to a new city just to fly back a day or two later.”
“I would love to travel. I’ve never really been anywhere except here.”
“Traveling for work is different than traveling for a vacation. Maybe you will get to travel for your fashion career one day.”
That would be a dream come true. But that will only happen if I can find a job to pay my tuition.
“Yeah, maybe.” I say before changing the subject. “So what kind of place is this? There’s no sign to tell us where we are or what kind of food they serve.”
“Tim’s Bar. Tim serves typical bar food. Burgers, chicken wings, fries, and onion rings. That sort of food.”
“Oh, that sounds delicious.”
“There are also pool tables, foosball, and dart boards. Just promise me you won’t hurt your ankle.”
I glance down at the wrap Alvin gave me. “Do you mean more than it already is? It’s not broken, so I think I’ll be fine.”
