“Where do you think you’re going?” he growled out, but his tone seemed more seductive than angry like chasing me had gotten him excited. “Who are you?”
Those words and his voice dug a memory out of me. I’d heard him before. There was something familiar about him.
As time seem to stop with his hard body on top of me, my eyes scanned his features. My mind whirled like a machine set to turbo speed as it put the pieces together.
His comforting and powerful voice.
His large build.
Those piercing distrusting eyes.
The tension between us.
Another man popped in my mind with the same eyes who asked the same question when we first met.
Ezra.
He must have been wearing a disguise just like I was that last time I saw him. The man on top of me was Cole’s friend. Whatthe hell did I do? If I said anything, it might out him in front of his people and make things worse.
My anxiety rose, making me squirm underneath him. It wasn’t going to do much, I had waited too long to fight back, but I still did it. Knowing that this was the man I had fantasized about and knowing he was even sexier than before was messing with my mind.
“I don’t want her in my head,” I grumbled out, instead of saying something like, you feel pretty good on top of me.That would be humiliating.
He moved a few fallen strands of my black hair out of my face.
“You don’t have a choice. You say you’re not working with anyone, but what I just saw was a trained fighter trying to escape.”
I didn’t answer. He was right. I was trained. He knew a monster when he saw one.
Little hands gripped onto the Alpha’s shoulders. “Dad, let's do this. Aunt Carla will be here soon.”
The Alpha’s daughter was no longer a person I liked. I made sure not to glance her way while her father stared at me. I noticed the bruised face she tried to hide behind her long, curly waves. Poor girl was so young, and if she was still showing marks, the demon must have hurt her badly.
He ignored her as he realized my eyes had changed. “Yellow? I’ve never seen that color. What are you?” His thumb absently rubbed the side of my cheek.
Anger rose inside of me. How dare he show me a small amount of kindness right before his witch violated my mind.
I moved my face as close to him as possible. “I guess you’ll find out when you get your witch to mind rape me.”
He jerked slightly at my words. It was a low blow since what just happened with his daughter, but that was exactly what thewitch was about to do. She was going to force herself inside of me.
When Rose flinched at my words as well, I felt like a pile of dog shit. My stomach twisted.
As we moved, everything went at a slugs pace. He lifted me off the ground to keep me from slowing him down.
My mind whirled. Was I going to let this happen?
He growled at his daughters distress.
I hissed at the pain in my left shoulder from hitting the floor so hard.
He led me back to another chair. My little mess was already cleaned up, having subordinates came in handy. Within seconds, I was back where I started, but this time I had my sight.
Arms gripped me to keep me from moving. The witch didn’t wait for confirmation. She stepped next to me and put her hands on my head. I couldn’t fight her off completely, but I was going to fucking try. My friends’' lives depended on it. The Alpha was known for wiping out complete clans in anger, and I was not going to let him take them.
He might be Ezra, Cole’s friend and on some kind of team with him that helped women, but there was no mistaking the monster he could be. We were both the same, and we recognized it in each other.
However, I’d die for my friends, so no matter what, they’d be safe. Period.
