A beautiful, young, naked omega was lying in our bed. He was lost in the pleasure of fingering himself when I opened the door.
What. The. Fuck.
“Can I help you?” I stated calmly, pretending I was not upset by this surprise.
“Who are you?” the little bitch dared to ask. At least he was ashamed enough to grab the sheet and cover himself from my sight.
“I’m the omega who lives here with my mate.” I sniffed the air, grimacing at the foreign stench covering my sanctuary. “Why are you here? We will have to burn those sheets and get a new mattress. What the fuck did you do, rub your slick on every inch of my bedroom?”
“What?” Tears started gathering in the omega’s eyes. “But—he told me we were going to be mates.”
“Excuse me?” I couldn’t be hearing this bitch correctly. “You’re trying to tell me that my fated mate told you he wanted to mate with you? When exactly was this?”
Stay calm. Your mate loves you. This has to be a lie.
“Last night,” the omega said, putting his clothes back on. “We met at Pink Coffee Cafe, and he said he had never met anyone so stunning.”
Last night, Wolf didn’t come home. Did he lie about why? Could this omega be correct?
Fuck.
“What was the name of the alpha you met?”
“Wolf Romano. He wanted me to meet him here tonight.”
“Are you sure it wasn’t Ralph or Romando?” I sounded silly, but I needed to confirm.
“Yes. That was the name he gave me. He gave me the key to get in here. See?” The omega held up the keys to the house, and my heart plummeted to my stomach.
I do see.
“I’m going to leave.” The omega was dressed and shuffled past me to get to the door. “I-I’m sorry.”
Anger, red hot, and overwhelming burned in my soul. How could he? We had eggs on the way. We were mated. He promised he wouldn’t do anything to betray me.
Talk to mate.My dragon reminded me not to go off half-cocked.
Fine.But he’d better have a perfect alibi.
He will.
Knowing my dragon would keep telling me our mate was being set up, I stopped talking to him. I had to look at this situation logically and ignore my emotions.
I thought about all the months that we were apart. He fought so hard to prove he was no longer the playboy he once was. I thought about how he looked at me when we were together like I was the only person he yearned for in the world. Why would Wolf chase me and not date anyone else the whole time I was gone, only to start seeing an omega behind my back when he had me in his home?
Simple. He wouldn’t.
I needed to talk to my mate and determine what was happening and who set this up. And order some new bedding.

“Honey, I’m home.” I heard my mate enter the house an hour later and head toward the bedroom. “Sorry, I stayed at Rayne’s last night. They went to the doctor with the twins. The poor babies were running fevers and refusing to eat. They needed me to watch Xavier. I was going to bring him here, but then he started crying, so we decided to have me stay there and— What’s that smell?” Wolf entered the bedroom and grimaced.
“You had a visitor today,” I said calmly from the chair by the window. “I came home today thinking you had gotten here before me, only to find a beautiful and utterly naked omega in our bed. Pleasuring himself.”
“What the fuck?” Wolf’s eyes widened. “Did you call the authorities?”
“Wait until you hear the best part,” I added. “He confided in me that Wolf Romano gave him the keys and told him they would become mates.”
