I grip her arms and pull her back up my body.

“Did I do something wrong?” she asks, her eyes searching mine. “Did I hurt you?”

“Too sensitive,” I barely manage.

I flip her onto her back and settle myself between her thighs. Her gaze holds mine as I notch myself at her entrance. “Forgive me. I can wait no longer.”

She opens herself even more to me and then cups my neck to bring my lips back down to hers. “I want you,” she whispers into my mouth.

Gritting my teeth, I struggle to hold back my release as I sink deep into her warm wet heat. The tight clasp of her body around my stav is the most exquisite sensation. “So tight,” I rasp.

I seal my mouth over hers as I begin to stroke deep inside her. My knot expands, locking us together. My eyes roll up in the back of my head as the small muscles of her channel quiver and flex around my length.

I’m not prepared when she clamps down on my knot. It’s too much and the pressure is too great as she cries out my name. My stav pulses strongly and I cry out “mine” as I erupt deep in her core, flooding her with my seed.

Panting heavily, her entire body goes limp as she bathes in the afterglow of our shared release, but I’m not finished yet.

With my knot still swollen within her, I wrap my arms around her back and pull her up as I sit back in my heels. This new angle makes me groan as she tightens around me, moaning my name. “Kyven,” she breathes as she wraps her arms around my neck and her legs around my hips.

I fold my wings over her, holding her in place as I thrust up into her body. Pleasure builds deep and I worry that I will be unable to hold back. But I want her to climax before me.

Reaching between us, I brush my thumb over the small pearl of flesh between her thighs and she cries out, her body clamping down hard around mine as she reaches her peak.

I fall over the edge with her, roaring her name as I flood her womb again with my seed, and then follow her into blissful oblivion.

When I wake,Grayce is still asleep in my arms. I thread my fingers through her long, chestnut hair and then press a tender kiss to her soft, pink lips.

Her eyelids flutter open, and she gives me a sleepy smile. “Good morning,” she whispers.

“It is not yet morning.” I grin. “We have a few hours still.”

She snuggles into me. “Then, go back to sleep,” she teases lightly.

“I’d rather watch you.” I gently skim the tip of my nose alongside hers, and whisper. “You are perfect, Grayce.”

A sharp knock on the door startles us both. “What is it?” I growl, unable to hide the irritation in my tone.

“The number of Wraith have doubled along the Wall.” Aren’s voice comes through the door. “I thought you might wish to be alerted.”

“I’ll be right there.”

I give Grayce a quick kiss and drop my forehead to hers. “Stay here. I will return shortly.”

I half expect her to protest. Instead, she whispers, “Be careful.”

“I will.”

I quickly dress and then slip out into the hallway. I turn to Talyn, standing guard at the door. “Remain here with the queen.”

He bows low. “Of course, my king.”

Aren and I make our way down the hallway to the balcony outside the throne room. Grayce’s brothers arrive a moment later, each of them staring wide-eyed at the scene below.

I gaze down at the swirling mass of darkness along the Great Wall. The normally dormant magic embedded in the wall glows brightly as the Wraith gather against it.

“What is happening?” Raiden asks, pointing to the light blue glow along the rock. “Why does it look like that?”

“The magic that fortifies the wall is being tested,” I say grimly. “With so many Wraith in one spot, it is forming a weakness.”
