ARES

EIGHT MONTHS LATER

Though I'm no longershiftless, my wolf has remained dormant, waiting for the arrival of our next pup, or pups in this instance.

"Ares! What have I told you? You're only allowed to help if you stay sitting on your throne." Kato sets my iced tea down next to my rocking chair. He glares down at me until I take a sip, but that only marginally calms him. "I wasn’t doing anything but fluffing the blankets. They’re so soft."

Kato melts and scent marks me by leaning down, rubbing his cheek against mine. "Sorry, mate. My wolf is going insane with your due date being so close for the babies."

A giant smile twists my lips. Goddess, I love these men. "My alphas have done a very good job ensuring the babies and I are well taken care of. It’s healthy for me to do things for myself too. Remember what the doctor said." I tease, enjoying when they possessively pamper me. No doubt it’ll trickle down to our twins when they’re born.

He kisses my temple and chuckles. "What do you think?" Not only is Kato a talented cook but also an artist, painting a forest mural for our pups.

"It’s absolutely stunning." The sun setting in the forest as a pack of wolves howl at the rising moon brings a lump to my throat and threatens to spill tears from my lashes.

"What the hell are you doing now, Kato?" Knox sneaks up and slaps Kato on the back of the head, Evie cackling evilly in her father’s arms. "Why is Princess tearing up?"

I shush him. "It’s nothing. Kato just finished the mural."

"Did you say the mural is done?" Maddock enters the room, followed by Hendrix. "Let’s see it."

Evie’s toddler babble is the only noise in the room as they stare at the wolf with her head tilted back on the wall.

"Absolutely gorgeous," Drix whispers, looking directly at me.

Maddock clears his throat before speaking. "It’s your wolf."

Nodding, I glance back at the wall. A silver moon-coated wolf sits high on a rock peak, her eyes half-mast as she calls to the wild.

"Once these pups are born, we’ll meet again, my friend." I promise the wolf lying content within my soul, knowing her family will be right there when she makes her next appearance.
