“I’ll see you in the morning. Sleep tight, baby.”
He left too, and I was left with Watson and Kline who I figured were both going to share the bed with me.
“I like how you guys don’t fight over who gets to sleep with me at night,” I told them, amused.
“We’re good at sharing,” Watson reminded me. “Come on, let’s sleep. It’s been a long evening.”
We all crawled under the covers, and I let Kline pull me to him. My back was pressed against his chest, and his arms were wrapped around my body.
Watson turned to face us, and I placed a hand on his chest, smiling at him. “I really enjoyed the show. That last dance was especially nice.”
“That’s good. We have a different show planned for next week. Actually, there will only be one show next weekend,” Watson said.
“Really? Why?”
“Watson.” Kline’s voice was stern, and he sounded like he didn’t want him to say more.
I furrowed my brows. “What? What’s next weekend? Why do you only have one show?”
“Don’t worry about that, sweetheart. Sleep. It’s late.”
Perfect.
That was a reason to stay up all night, wondering what they were hiding from me.
Chapter 31
LOLA
It’s been almost a week since the accident with Vivian, and though I couldn’t stop thinking about that night, I managed to move on from it once Watson told me that he had talked to the police.
Vivian would face consequences for stalking and assault, and she wasn’t allowed in The Hot Spot anymore. In fact, she wasn’t allowed to be around me anymore, and if I did see her in close proximity, I’d have to call the police.
I hoped that wouldn’t happen.
I hoped she’d get the help she needed.
It was Friday afternoon, and I was still at the office getting some paperwork done when Willa called me. Picking up, I held the phone to my ear. “Hey, what’s up?”
“Oh, not much. Just the fact that Morris is taking me to a cabin in the woods after tonight’s show.”
I pursed my lips. This sounded like the start of a horror movie. But Morris was a good man. I didn’t have any worries letting Willa go with him. “Sounds fun. Where is this cabin?”
“It’s like a thirty-minute drive from here. The cabin is his. Well, his parents’. But he can go up there whenever and he’s been talking about it for a while. I would take you with me, but I’m not sure that cabin is big enough for five more people.”
I laughed and shook my head. “Don’t worry. I’ll let you enjoy the weekend with Morris.”
“Thanks. Are you still at work?”
“Yes, but I’ll be finished soon. Why?”
“I was thinking we could go have dinner together before the show. There’s that new taco place we wanted to try, remember?”
My stomach growled the second she mentioned food. “That sounds perfect. When can you meet?”
“Whenever you’re ready.”
I looked at the clock on my computer. “How about you come pick me up in thirty minutes?”
