He nodded. "On the patch."

He'd sworn loyalty to his club. He'd handed over his life to Havlin. It was a question that never needed asking between brothers.

"The Havlin member in the photo Cora thinks is her brother is Jeff Albright." Jagger leaned forward and put his forearm on his upturned knee. "But I'm not going to set a young girl after him with hopes of meeting her long-lost brother."

Wire blew out his breath. Cora would be beside herself, knowing her brother was in the same state.

"He's spent some time in prison and has only been out a couple of years," said Jagger.

"For?"

"Manslaughter."

"Jesus," he muttered.

"None of us are innocent, brother."

He nodded. There were times when working for the club called to spill some blood. He'd done his share. While he hadn't spent time behind bars for most of the crimes he'd committed, he'd seen what happened to men who had spent time in prison for murder. They came out harder and more unforgiving.

They had to, to survive the real world.

Life wasn't for pussies.

He pulled on his beard. "You're putting a stop to Cora knowing her brother."

"Never said that." Jagger put his boot down with a thunk. "Just like I'd protect you if someone came asking after you, I'll talk to Albright myself. I'll let him know someone in Seaglass Cove wants to talk to him. If he comes, that's up to him. If he doesn't, Cora will have to accept that her brother doesn't want to go backward."

"Are you going to tell him it's his baby sister, who he doesn't even know exists, who wants to see him?" Some things should only come from family.

"That's none of my business." Jagger pulled on his beard. "I've known him for twenty-five years. At one time, he would've died for me. But circumstances changed. He's much more likely to kill me now."

Fuck. Wire rubbed the back of his neck. He'd opened up a shitshow by seeking out Albright.

Despite Jagger's past with Albright, he couldn't let Cora's wish to reunite with her brother slip away. Even if he had to take her to Beaverton to see her only sibling.

"Albright's the only family she has left, Prez." He swallowed. "It's only her."

"It'll be his choice, not mine. And not yours." Jagger dipped his chin. "I'll let you know what happens."

Nothing stopped him from contacting the mother chapter and talking to Jeff Albright except respect for his president.

He held out his hand and shook with Jagger. "Appreciate it."

Cutting through the clubhouse, he pushed out the back door and almost ran into Maverick. He grabbed his MC brother's vest, keeping himself upright. While he outweighed and stood over most men, he was at least forty pounds and a couple of inches shorter than Maverick.

"What's your damn hurry?" Maverick pushed away from him.

"Got things to do, brother." Wire walked toward his motorcycle.

While he'd put his life in Jagger's hands because he'd pledged his loyalty to Havlin, Cora was innocent.

Jagger's decision to go to Jeff Albright first meant it was possible Cora would never meet her brother—and there was nothing he could do to change the outcome.

But what he could do was make sure she had someone in her life. He could give her a reason to stay in Seaglass Cove with him.

He rode away from the clubhouse. Once the idea of how to fix his problem hit him, he grew excited. He was doing the right thing.

He was doing what he needed to do. Cora belonged to him. Not her brother. Not her past.
