Chapter Sixteen
Dio slapped Bane in the chest and pointed toward the door. He looked and almost dropped the cigarette dangling from his mouth.
"That's your woman, man." Dio whistled. "You better get her before one of these assholes decides to take her for himself."
Bane ogled Daisy from head to toe and back up again.
Dio chuckled. "Hell, if you don't want her—"
"I want her." Bane strode across the room inside the Havlin Motorcycle Club clubhouse.
Aware of Liz beside Daisy, he staked his claim with a kiss and led both women to the side of the room where the drinks were spread out on the table.
A Linkin Park track played over the speakers. He grabbed an A & W Zero for Daisy, leaned closer to Liz, and said, "What do you want to drink?"
"Rum and Coke."
He picked out a Rum bottle, surprised Liz had already gathered a Coke can and a red Solo cup. He let her mix her own.
Daisy snaked her arm around his back and leaned into him. He found an empty can and dropped his cigarette inside. Then he kissed her.
"I've missed you," she said.
"It's been fucking busy around here, babe." He grabbed a beer out of the cooler. "Non-stop orders. We had Cord at the UPS store six times with loads. Fridays are like that. Next week will be a breeze until Friday comes around again."
That was just the parts shop he was dealing with. Each day brought more security business to the club. Crews were sent out at all hours to make sure the good city of Seaglass Cove stayed quiet.
Before long, he'd need to leave and take his turn running security. Until then, he would enjoy all his free time with Daisy.
"Sounds tiring." She slid in front of him. "But you have tonight off, right?"
"Yeah." He hooked his hand around her neck and massaged her nape. "How was your day?"
"Easy." She reached out and brought Liz closer. "We have the best job. I wouldn't trade it for anything."
"I'd trade it for a millionaire who lived in Hawaii half the year and wanted to take me with him." Liz shrugged. "Just sayin'.
Daisy laughed and then looked at him. "Know any millionaires?"
"A few." He could tell by the amused expressions neither one of the women believed him.
He wouldn't tell them how those men came about their money. Not everything Havlin MC touched was on the legal side. While they stayed out of running dope, selling women, and dealing with stolen parts, they ran protection for those who could afford their price.
And, if those who hired them required them to do illegal things, then they weren't afraid of getting the job done.
"Liz needs a man," said Daisy.
