"We're invited to a party tonight, and I want you to go with me."
"Who's party?"
"Havlin Motorcycle Club."
"No."
"Come on."
"No way."
She let go of Liz. "It'll be fun."
"You don't know that, and besides Bane—who is not my biggest fan—I don't know anyone there. A biker party is your kind of thing since you're hooked up with Bane." She waved her hand as if to change the subject. "You like bikers."
"One biker."
"Whatever."
"Liz." Daisy stared at her friend. "In the past, you always asked me to go places with you, and I always told you no. So, I get if you don't want to go to get back at me—"
"I'm not a bitch." Liz frowned. "You know me better than that."
"I do. I also know that for years, you begged me to go out with you, and it wasn't fair to you that I always wanted to stay home." She sighed. "I just really want you to go with me tonight."
"I don't know." Liz's mouth softened. "Why is it so important?"
"Because..." She exhaled heavily. "I'm scared someone will ruin the night for me by saying something stupid about my past. Maybe if you and Bane are with me, everyone would ignore the fact that I'm there."
She could tell Liz was thinking about it. The two of them rarely went anywhere except the duplex, the pool, and Liz's apartment.
"You can drive. If you're not having fun after an hour, you can leave, and Bane will take me home." She lifted her brows. "Please?"
Liz pointed at her. "One hour."
"I love you." She hugged her friend. "I need to get back out to the pool. You can swing by my place and shower before we head to the party."
"I'll have to go home first. I don't have any clothes to change into with me."
"Well, pick me up a little before nine o'clock. I don't want to be late." She turned and went out to the pool.
Tara's lessons were almost over. Sierra and Melanie watched the free swim class. Daisy walked around the pool, picking and scooping floats, goggles, and noodles out of the water. The less she had to do after the class, the faster she could get out of there and go home.
She had no idea what she'd wear to a biker party.
Her stomach fluttered. She was nervous.
A night out with Bane excited her. She hoped nothing went wrong and she could have a wonderful time with him.
