Several minutes passed, he said, "Do you understand what it means to be my woman?"
Her own heartbeat outraced his. "That you want me in your life and we're exclusive."
"Ja." He swallowed, and she felt it go clear through his body. "As my woman, you are protected by Slag Motorcycle Club. You wear my colors on your jacket and helmet, letting everyone in other MCs and in other chapters of Slag know that if they touch one hair on your head, they will deal with me. When we get back to Portland, I have a necklace that you can wear when you're working or going to the store. It has an emblem on the end of the chain that will show everyone that you are mine...if they get that close to you. I'll want you to wear it."
"I will," she whispered. "For you."
"You hold my heart, Lizzy girl." His arm tightened around her. "I'm not going to let you go. Waited too long. Thought I was going alone in life, and then you slipped right into my hands. Didn't know what I was looking for until you showed me."
She sucked in her breath.
"You don't ask, but if you want to know, you're it for me. I'm going to spend the rest of my life making sure you know...how I'm feeling." His voice so low, it sounded as if it was a threat. "Ja. You're going to feel that. I'll make sure."
She waited for him to keep talking. Tonight had ended horribly after a lovely day with his family and getting to see how they run the motorcycle club in Seattle.
His family had removed all doubts that she wasn't strong enough to love a biker. She could be happy in the lifestyle Roar was accustomed to. Watching his father and mother, she'd seen below the rough exterior, the assumptions she had of them, and found a passionate drive deep inside of them to protect, love, and care for their family.
Knute Akram would do anything to see that those he loved were happy and she saw so much of Roar in his dad.
Emotions filled the holes the frightening night had left in her. She'd witnessed Roar holding his niece, and even when May had fallen asleep, Roar continued holding her, packing her around, soothing her, for two hours while she'd napped.
The absolute joy on the child's face as she woke and found her uncle holding her had melted Lizzy's heart. That was the forever kind of love she wanted. He was the dedicated man she wanted to have babies with. Roar was her heart.
She'd hoped to share all of her thoughts with him tonight about how she not only had fallen in love with him but loved him completely.
Holding him tighter, she understood that tonight wasn't the moment to tell him how she felt. Something weighed heavily on his mind after the threat to Slag. He needed all his strength to deal with the MC first.
