Chapter 22
Coco talked with Monicaand her man, Joel. Lizzy hung back waiting for Roar, who'd gone in the meeting room. She couldn't help staring at Joel's beard. It hung down to his stomach.
She looked several feet to her left at Heather's boyfriend, having already forgotten his name. He was older than Heather, who was two years older than Lizzy, and who also wore his hair long like his beard. Nordic men sure had a lot of hair. Goosebumps rose on her arms, remembering how Roar had gently given her a braid.
Never would she have thought that braids on men were sexy, but it gave Roar such an intimidating appearance she quite liked it. He no longer scared her but excited her.
"I bet Lizzy could talk him into it," said Coco.
Hearing her name, she said, "What?"
"You could talk Brage into singing." Coco pointed across the room where the vice president sat at a table with a voluptuous woman on his lap. "Peer says he can sing, and he's good.
Why would they think she wanted to ask? "I don't know him that well."
"Know who?" asked Roar behind her.
She turned and leaned closer. "Brage. I think Coco wants him to sing."
Roar searched the room and said, "It doesn't look like he wants to do that right now. Besides, the only time any of us hears him belt out a song is when he's tipped back the bottle."
She studied Brage. Roar's vice president was around his age with a hardness about him that made her doubt he sang for just anyone. She'd never seen him laugh or relax. He was always serious and when he talked, rather blunt. Maybe he was different around the other club members or like Roar said, when he was drunk.
Brage reached out and caught the wrist of one of the women at the club, jerking her onto his lap and kissing her deeply while she wrapped herself around him. Lizzy looked away. Though for some reason tonight, she wasn't uncomfortable with the public displays of affection in the room.
The activities within the club reminded her of her time in college when everyone was hooking up in the dorms and at the under-twenty-one parties. Except, these were men, not young adults.
"Roar," yelled Peer, holding up a drink and passing it to one of the bikers.
The beer was handed from member to member until it reached Roar. He held it up in the air and then drank the whole amount before slamming it on the nearest table.
"Slag, Slag, Slag," chanted everyone in the building.
Lizzy's heart raced. She looked at Coco and grinned, simply caught up in the atmosphere. Neither one of them had any idea what they were cheering about, but the mood was high and contagious.
She leaned against Roar. "It's so weird that you guys can be so loud with your cheers and music, but we can't hear anything at our house."
"Good insulation." He kissed her temple. "We live in the city. If we didn't build the way we do, we'd have the cops here every day because the neighboring businesses and the people on the residential street would complain."
"They can't complain much, not with the noise of the trains going by." She latched her thumbs into the belt loops on his jeans. "I was wondering. Are we ever going to have a day off together? A whole day."
Since they'd stopped hiding how they felt toward each other, Roar had ridden away on his Harley to attend club business every Sunday. She wanted to go to sleep in his arms and wake up with him in the morning, and stay in bed all day.
"Soon." He kissed her. "Are you missing me?"
"Yes." She stuck her bottom lip out. "I was hoping you'd knock at my door this morning and wake me up."
He pressed his lower body against her. The hard ridge of his cock evident against her.
She seriously gave a thought to begging him to take her upstairs, but she wasn't ready to throw all her inhibitions away around his club.
She worked at the bar and even though they were together, what would people think? She certainly wouldn't want any negative talk to go around about her and make working there difficult.
"Do you dance?" she asked.
His eyes warmed, and he shook his head. She swayed in front of him.
He hooked her neck, bringing her back tight against him. "You do that, I'm going to take you up against the wall in front of everyone."
