In the breakroom, Monica whooped. "First night. Are you girls ready?"
"We're going to try our best." Coco took off her sweater. "Do you know how many people they expect, since it's the grand opening?"
"A full house." Kelli bent over at the waist and fluffed up her hair before straightening. "Our jobs are to make sure they drink a lot."
Lizzy stayed quiet. That was an odd thing for Kelli to say. Every server knew to push the menu.
"What door did you guys use to come in?" asked Coco.
"Back door." Kelli looked down her nose. "We unlocked the front door for you."
"So, we're supposed to come in that way each night?" asked Lizzy, finding it weird to go through the same door as the customers.
"Yeah. You're not permitted in the alley. That's Slag property." Kelli shrugged. "I belong to Peer."
She had no idea what or who Peer was, but she wasn't going to argue. Roar had made it clear the three other servers had some connection to the motorcycle club which was okay with her. She was only here to work.
Thinking of work, it was up to her to give each server their area for the night and oversee that everything runs smoothly.
"If you ladies are ready, let's go out in the room, and we'll divide up the different areas." She walked to the door, aware that Coco was the only one following her.
Never one in the position of leadership, the only experience she had was training the teenaged busboy and busgirl in the summer at Burger Bistro. But, with an offer of a pay raise, she'd do anything required to make more money.
"Be strong. Don't let those women push you around," whispered Coco.
She smiled at Coco, squaring her shoulders as the others came into the room. "Since we don't know which tables are going to be the busiest, we can discuss how tonight goes tomorrow before work. If anyone needs to switch to a different area, we can move people around until everything works better for everyone."
Not wanting to come across as giving special attention to Coco, she purposely put her near the pool table in the back. She took the front area to cover new arrivals and kept Monica, Kelli, and Heather in the middle.
"Now, the only thing I'm not used to is serving alcohol. I'm going to assume the bartender will keep the orders together and I only have to serve them but are there any rules about how many they can have or do we have to cut them off at a certain time?" she asked.
"I'll be the one who keeps track of the drinks," said a man behind her.
She turned. A man with long brown hair wearing a biker vest stood behind her. His stoic expression impossible to read, she smiled. "Hi, I'm Lizzy."
"I know." He walked over and kissed Kelli.
Not a hello/goodbye kiss. A stick his tongue down her throat and bend her over kiss. Lizzy, aware that the other women were looking at her, continued gazing at the couple through the awkwardness of the situation.
The man finally straightened Kelli, smacked her ass, and walked around the counter and behind the bar. Kelli rubbed her lips together and smirked.
"That's Peer. He's mine," said Kelli.
"Good to know." She walked up to the bar to talk with Peer about how he'd like the orders to come in, and maybe a little bit to irritate Kelli. For goodness sake, she wasn't after his man. They needed to work together.
"Peer?" She placed her hands on the counter. "How would you like the orders to come to you? On paper or verbally?"
"Either way." Peer picked up a bottle, tossed it in the air, and caught it. "Whatever you want to throw at me, I'll remember."
"Okay." She smiled. "I'll pass on the request."
Oh, Lord. Tonight was going to be a total cluster. No one knew what they were required to do. The bartender was egotistical. Kelli hated her. There should be someone here who trained her to what Roar wanted her to do.
Going into the kitchen, she expected to find another biker at the grill, maybe tossing a spatula in the air. Instead, an older woman around fifty-ish smiled at her as she put on an apron.
"Welcome to The Fire Ring. You must be Lizzy." The woman stuck out her hand. "I'm Peach."
Shaking, she smiled at the friendly face. "Nice to meet you. I thought it was best to come and ask how you wanted the orders delivered to you before we officially open."
