Chapter 27
Sitting on the floor, Lizzy applied mascara while Coco sat behind her on the couch. "Make sure you get the braid tight. I plan on taking it out when I get there. I don't want to arrive at Roar's parents' place looking like I rolled out of bed."
After four weeks of Roar taking her on the motorcycle, each time going longer distances, today's ride would be her longest. Three hours on the back of his Harley, and it was crucial that she looked her best when they arrived in Seattle.
She was going to meet his parents and two of his sisters and their families.
"They'll think you're beautiful, no matter what condition you arrive in." Coco smiled. "You're in love, and that makes you shine."
Her stomach fluttered. She'd never met any of the parents of the men she'd dated. None of her past relationships were as serious or as important to her. She hadn't even had the chance to bring a man home to her mom yet before she'd died.
"I was an only child of a single mother, and I haven't had my mom for almost ten years." She studied her face, wondering if there were a way Roar's parents would know that she hadn't had the most traditional life.
"Just remember to say please and thank you." Coco's smile softened in the reflection of the mirror.
Lizzy swallowed her nerves. "I did get that advice as a child."
"I know you did." Coco tied off the end of Lizzy's braid. "Okay, you're all done."
"Thank you." She stood and carried the mirror to the downstairs bathroom.
Knowing the ride was going to be long and not knowing how many stops Roar would take, she used the toilet, washed, and returned to the living room.
The rumble of a motorcycle engine warned her it was time. Coco grinned at her. They were both excited for their own reasons. While she was leaving town and meeting Roar's family, Elling was going to come over and spend the day with Coco.
As she suspected, those two had hit it off and were sleeping together already. Though, she assumed their relationship was based purely on sex. Coco had never spoken of falling in love or had any inhibitions about going to the clubhouse and staying with Elling.
She walked over to the door and opened it to find Roar striding toward her with a big bag. Kissing him as he passed her, she watched him curiously.
"What's that?" She followed him to the couch.
"Your things." He hooked her neck and kissed her forehead. "Now, you'll be ready to ride."
She was ready. Smoothing her shirt over her stomach, she stepped closer to the couch and opened up the bag.
"Get out," she exclaimed, looking up at him. "Are you kidding me?"
He raised his brows in amusement. Coco walked over and peeked inside the bag. "Whoa."
Lizzy pulled out a leather jacket and held it up. Only then could she read the patch underneath the Slag emblem.
PROPERTY OF ROAR AKRAM
Holding the jacket to her chest, she lunged, wrapping one arm around his neck, and kissed him deeply.
"I don't even know what that means, but I love it." She kissed him again. "Thank you."
"It means you belong to me." He patted her ass. "There's more. I can't have you on the interstate without having you protected."
She dug into the bag, bringing out a black helmet. On the back, there was a decal with her first name on it. Holding it up so Coco could see, she danced in excitement.
Then, she pulled out the last item in the sack. A box.
Opening the lid, she found a pair of high black leather boots. "Oh, my God, how awesome are these?"
She kicked off her sneakers, loosening the laces on the boots.
"That was very cool of you, Roar." Coco smiled. "Even I feel better about her riding on your motorcycle now."
