CHAPTER 10
AXEL
Iusually preferred quiet when I worked, but for some reason, I played music while I removed the flooring in the kitchen. There was something satisfying about tearing things out.
Luna had planned for a larger island in the kitchen, one where one person could prep the meal while others sat. I didn't have any plans to have people over, but I could see the appeal.
By the time the work was done, Luna would be gone. I wasn't even sure she'd be here for the entire project. That's why I wanted to get moving right away.
I was impressed with her design. It was simple, masculine, and had the cabin feel I wanted to maintain. This wasn't a luxury retreat, but it should be comfortable. I thought I was okay with what I had, but now I couldn't wait to see how it would look when we were done.
I hoped that Luna would be around to see her hard work. She was talented. I couldn't believe her family didn't see her potential. But then again, maybe she didn't show them what she'd revealed to me.
She didn't believe in herself and her abilities. Hopefully, this project would show her what she was capable of.
I was surprised to find another layer of linoleum under the original. How many layers deep did it go?
I stopped around dinner time with my stomach rumbling. I wondered if Luna had thought about what she'd have for dinner.
I decided to take a quick shower and grab some patties for the grill. Maybe I could entice her over here for a burger with the smell of it grilling.
I kind of liked that we didn't exchange phone numbers or even emails. Any time she wanted to show me her progress, we had to see each other in person.
It was old-fashioned but kind of nice. I had to work a little harder to get her attention.
There was nothing to distract us here. I thought I wanted solitude and space, but now that Luna was living next to me, I wanted to spend more time with her before she left.
I jumped in the shower ignoring my aching cock. I dressed quickly, then decided to make burgers from scratch rather than use the frozen patties. I diced onions and added the Worcestershire sauce to the beef. After I formed four patties, I carried everything out to the grill.
I fired it up, then put the burgers on the grill.
It didn't take long for the door to the next-door cabin to open.
Luna came out in her usual uniform of a sweatshirt and leggings. “What are you cooking?”
“Burgers.”
Her face lit up. “They smell so good.”
I waved her over. “I just so happened to make a few extra. Want to join me?”
Luna squealed. “Let me grab my coat. I'm starving.”
A few minutes later, I put the rolls on the grill to toast. Luna came outside, this time in a coat, holding the cut-up watermelon from earlier. “This was all I had.”
“That's perfect.” I grilled onions and cut up tomatoes to go on top of the burgers.
I took everything inside and placed it on the table. It was getting more action than it ever had before. When it was just me, I ate at the counter or on the couch. But this was so much better.
I grabbed plates, and we doctored our sandwiches with toppings. When we finally sat, the ketchup was oozing out of the sides of Luna's burger.
She licked her lips. “This is going to be so good.”
“You haven't even taken a bite yet.”
She lifted the burger, letting it hover a few inches from her mouth while she studied it. “ I can just tell.”
I was mesmerized as she opened her mouth and took a large bite. Then she closed her eyes and moaned.
