“Amelia is in need of a queen to attend her tea party, my darling.” Markus’ voice crackles over the phone as I turn on the speaker and set it on the table so I can open the files Alec emails me.
“Tell Nina I need some itty bitty baby snuggles,” Isabelle reminds me before I hear her footsteps recede.
“I’ll bring a team of my guys, you bring some of yours, and we can have a fun little circle jerk.” Markus says. I fight the urge to hang up the phone, not in the mood for his careless attitude.
“Is that a no? Come on Aden, let’s sword fight. Hey, ouch!” Markus says, the sound of a small scuffle followed by Alec’s annoyed voice.
“Can you try being serious for just one moment?”
“Nope,” Markus laughs, “Send me the time and coordinates, I’ll be there.” Markus calls out, his voice fading as he leaves. Alec curses under his breath, “Do you want me to come keep him in line?” He offers.
“Don’t tell him I said this, but he’s not intolerable. If Isabelle can put up with being married to the both of you, I’ll manage. And the three of you agreed that one of you stays with Isabelle and your daughter at all times.” I remind him.
“If you’d like, we could keep Nina and Leo company. It’ll help with Isabelle’s baby fever. Now Amelia is even begging Markus and I for a sibling.” Alec offers and I relax slightly, knowing they would be safer.
“Thank you,” I say, before the line disconnects and I stare at the address on screen, where the GPS says our shipment is.
Something about the random stolen equipment feels off, as if it’s a diversion but nothing is happening and no ransom notes have shown up on anyone's door step. Maybe I’m just paranoid. I grab a hand towel, tying Nina’s apron around my waist as I step up to the sink loaded with dirty dishes. Nina gets upset each time I leave for hands-on missions, while we were both raised in mafia families, she lived similar to my sister Luna.
A mafia princess, meant to be seen and not heard, and absolutely not allowed to participate in any of the family business. Nina knew what was happening, but seeing the dark side wasn’t something she was familiar with. My sister dove headfirst into it, immediately taking on dangerous jobs and fighting for her place on the front lines.
Nina on the other hand, was tech smart and did incredible behind the scene work for each of us. She was an incredibly valuable asset, and I fell more in love with her every day. Her soft hands dig into my shoulders as she massages the tense muscles while I peer over my shoulder. Leo is strapped to her chest in a baby carrier, his face resting on her chest as he drools.
“Leo, you are one lucky guy.” I say, shaking my head. “I want those back, one day.” I say, giving her a serious look. Nina blushes, shaking her head as she sways gently, keeping our son content.
“Your daddy isn’t going to get lucky if he comes home with even a papercut.” She warns me, kissing the top of his head.
“I will always come home, this is my paradise.” I say, turning back to the current chore.
Chapter two
Nina
Laying Leo in his crib and creeping out of the room without waking him was a rare feat, and I’ll admit to doing a tiny happy dance when I tiptoed down the hallway towards my bedroom. Aden watches me, a lopsided smile on his face as I crawl into the bed and pull the covers over my head. He tugs the blanket away, leaning over me and brushing the stray hair away from my face.
“The Barones’ will be here soon.” He says, kissing my forehead when I frown.
“You’ll come home to us,” I say confidently.
“Always, baby.” He kisses my cheek, slowly moving down to kiss my neck. “I have to make it back to worship my incredible wife,” He murmurs against my skin, gently biting the soft skin. I suck in a breath as he pulls my shirt over my head, leaning back to gaze down at my body. I fidget, crossing my arms over my stomach but Aden grips my wrists in his hand, prying them away.
“Don’t hide from me,” He whispers, crawling further down the bed until his lips brush over the scar that cradles my stomach.
“I’m still self conscious over that.” I whisper, nodding my head towards the slowly fading scar across my lower abdomen.
“This? This is just another reason for me to fall to my knees at your feet, Nina. What you sacrificed, what happened to your body, I am still in awe. You have given me the greatest gift I could have asked for and I will spend the rest of our lives proving to you how grateful I am.” Aden kisses along the entire scar as I press my head back into the pillow and blink up at the ceiling when my pulse picks up.
“Look at me,” He commands and my eyes snap to him.
“You are amazing, my love. I would give my last breath to feel your lips against mine.” Aden’s tongue darts out, tracing the edge of my panties as I watch, holding my breath.
“My Nina,” he pulls my panties down my legs, “My wife,” His breath fans over my bare skin, making me shiver.
“My love,” He presses his tongue over my clit, making my back arch as I suck a breath in. I hear the click of a button, followed by a soft buzzing sound.
“Aden?” I ask, raising up onto my elbows in time to see the gleam in his eye as he presses my vibrating rose over my clit. The feeling overwhelms me suddenly, making my toes curl as I fall backwards onto the bed with panted moans. Adding to the pressure, he slowly works two fingers inside of me.
My fingers clutch the sheet as my body trembles, pleasure building at a quick pace that makes my heart pound until my chest aches. Aden curls his fingers just right, and a cry rips from my lips as release ripples through my body.
