And turns me on.

A lot.

“Can we please just agree that this entire situation sucks ass?” Isabelle says, obviously tired of the fighting. Everyone mutters their agreement as she paces. I just wanted to go back to bed at this point.

Five hours later and we were still arguing, no surprise there. Isabelle had left to take care of Amelia and Alec was growing more annoyed by the minute.

“Why don’t we just drop a shitload of explosives on his little camp?” Markus suggests.

I was thinking he had a mild obsession with explosives. Aden shakes his head, pointing at the laptop he brought in. The screen shows surveillance of the now empty property that Steffen was using.

“These two scared him off, so we don’t even know exactly where he’s hiding.” Aden says, waving a hand at me. I groan, flopping backwards on the couch and staring up at the ceiling.

“How about we just let my dad offer me to him.” I say.

“No.” Jared shuts the idea down, walking from the kitchen with a glass of whiskey for him and one for Alec.

“Gee, thanks for offering, but I don’t want a drink.” Aden says with an attitude.

“Good, because I wasn’t offering. And you’re not going anywhere near him.” Jared scoops an arm under me, lifting me up so he can sit down next to me. He gently lays me back down with my head in his lap and I roll my eyes.

“We already had a deal that I was bait.” I say.

Jared shrugs, swirling his glass before taking a sip.

“Deals off. You’re not his to give away.” His tone leaves no room for argument.

“She’s got a point. If Luna goes along with the offer, then she can tell us where he’s holed up.” Alec points out. I smile proudly, but Jared isn’t having it.

“Not happening. We figure out a better plan.” He dismisses it without another thought. As if I would give up that easily. I sit up to put space between us as I address Alec.

“My father would set everything up, going along with the plan. Once I was on the inside, then I could report back to you guys. Or just kill Steffen myself.” I suggest.

“I said no, stop talking about it.” Jared nearly snarls his words. Aden frowns, pacing the floor with his arms crossed.

“No, you’ll be under tight surveillance and if you kill Steffen, then his men would be on you before you could get out. It’d be certain death. You relay information to us once we get you on the inside, then we can rescue you and take out Steffen.” Aden says, nodding his head as he works out the details. Excitement swells at the trust my brother is showing in my ability to handle something like this.

“I can bet we could get somebody on the inside to flip, get them to work for us. Everyone has a price.” Markus says with a grin, lying on the floor, his hands folded behind his head. Jared sits forward, resting his elbows on his knees and wringing his hands, but he stays silent.

“So it’s settled. You’ll call our father and get it all set up.” I say, clapping my hands as I stand.

Jared follows me, taking hold of my arm and pulling me into his chest. My head falls back as I stare up at him wide eyed. His face is red and his grip trembles on my arm.

“This isn’t happening.” His voice is low but lethal.

“This will work. You just have to trust me.” I plead with him.

He drops his hand, turning on his heel and walking out the door.

Chapter 11- Jared

It’s been two days since Luna demanded we let her father just give her to Steffen as his fake bride, and I was ready to explode. I’ve spent the time refusing to speak to her, refusing to acknowledge her in my home.

Until now.

Luna walked out of my room, completely naked. My bed on the couch was awful, and this girl was determined to make me suffer more.

“What the hell, Luna?” I snap, watching her perky ass bounce as she sways her hips on her way to the kitchen. She stops, turning her head to glare at me over her shoulder.
