“I don’t understand that. Why?”

He cupped her face in his hands.

“It’s simple. It’s because I love you, Aly, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I’m not being dishonest. That’s all I want. What you see is what you get.”

She kissed him again, and she knew he was reaching for her. She could let him catch her or let him fall. The latter didn’t sit well with her.

Yeah, no.

She’d stay with him.

Her mind was made up.

“I want to be together.”

He stared into her eyes.

“Promise me that you won’t leave me, Aly. That’s all I’m asking. Just promise that if you feel like running, you’ll tell me so we can do it together.”

She ran her fingers down his face.

“I promise. Because I love you. We’ll run together, and you never have to chase me again. I’m yours.”

His heart skipped.

In that moment, he believed her.

Jax really believed she’d reach for him.

“Oh, Aly,” he whispered, moving toward her to find her mouth with his.

As soon as their lips touched, that need exploded.

It wrapped around them, and it pulled them both under the heat of that lust.

They were racing toward each other, and not apart.

Finally.

Moving him backward, Alyona gave him a shove, and they took a tumble onto the bed. It was apparent that she had a plan.

Thank.

God.

He moaned as her hands wandered, and she pulled at his clothing, baring his body to her. She got him naked fast, and the whole time, he stared up at her, enjoying the sight.

When he reached up and whipped off the wig, her dark tresses tumbled free.

“My beautiful woman,” he whispered, touching her cheek with his fingers.

Her heart skipped, as he pulled her down, and his hands began removing her clothing as his mouth kept her distracted.

Before long, she was naked, and they were rolling around on the bed.

When he got her trapped beneath him, he stared into her eyes, and gave her the words.

“I will always love you.”
