He’d definitely found someone else and maybe buried her in the other crypt.

The Church of Scotland

The Mystery Continues

Thursday

Afternoon

Holy shit! Sitting there, Ian couldn’t believe that they found authentication related to Ravensmire Castle from so long ago. He was excited that they filled in one more piece to the puzzle. This was only making him want to find out more.

To be honest, he was giddy for one reason, and one reason alone.

Ian actually felt like he was an investigator. He believed that he could solve something for a change.

When he’d lost his job as head of the Secret Service, and Elizabeth hired him, he knew it was a mercy hiring.

And he took it.

Why?

A guy had bills to pay.

There was no doubt that she only gave him a job out of loyalty. Compared to any of her other team members, he was lacking in the solving department.

If he figured this out, then maybe, he could actually feel like he could hold up on the job.

That he could make them all proud.

It felt good to believe that he was actually able to solve something. It dinged up the ego to work with the best investigator in the country, a legend in her own right, and to have to tell people you did her office managing.

Her freaking paperwork.

Yeah, that was a blow.

One day, maybe, she’d let him come off the bench and actually work a case. That was his dream, and now, it felt a little bit closer.

Ian was working his way through the ‘investigation’, and he was hungry for more.

He.

Was.

Ravenous.

“This is awesome,” Ian said. “I can’t believe we’re piecing this together to get the whole picture. Now I know why Elizabeth loves what she does. You have nothing, and then, you find answers, one-by-one, until you figure it out.”

“It is very cool,” he said. “You’re doing a good job. Callen’s going to be grateful you handled this part of it.”

He beamed.

“You think?”

Gryphen nodded.

“Yeah, because when he brings Elizabeth here, she’ll be so engrossed in the mystery, she won’t kill him for buying her a castle, and for not warning her there’s bodies in the basement.”
