“She’ll be safe,” Lucian said as they accessed the flight desk for the private planes that were kept there. He signed out the jet, paid the fees for the gassing up of the jet, and then focused on his people.
“Julian is sending information so we can start working. I’ll admit, this is new to me. I’m not accustomed to detective-ing. My wife would be horrified.”
Ridge was curious.
All he got was a call that said, ‘I need you. Meet me at the airport. My wife is in trouble’.
“What’s going on? What did Bishop do now? Did she kick the shit out of someone?” he asked, going with the most likely scenario.
Lucian laughed.
Yeah, he wished.
As they boarded the jet, he explained.
“This wasn’t Bishop this time. This was Victoria. Apparently, the ladies found a body, and the cop on duty is being a dick.”
Ridge lifted a brow.
“Pardon?”
He explained.
“The Detective is holding them despite their rights. I’m going to go make a cop weep, and we’re going to likely be there to help Tori solve a case. You know she’s not going to back down, and neither will my wife. Spite is her middle name when a cop does her dirty.”
Oh, they were aware.
Bishop was a sweetheart.
UNTIL you pissed her off.
Cops who did got her rage—in the way of her making them look bad.
This cop…
Oh, boy.
He was going to have a detective and ex-Fed gunning for his badge and manhood.
Someone was getting emasculated on this one.
As they entered the jet, Lucian gave the captain the orders. The stairs were rolled away, and the doors were closed. It was a seamless process.
“Take off as soon as you can. When will we arrive?” he asked, needing to prepare himself for the legal smackdown. He was going to do some research on the police department and this particular detective.
The captain did the math.
“We’re flying into headwinds. If I can get above them, five and a half hours. The worst-case scenario…six hours max.”
He glanced at his watch.
“We’ll be landing around six, and I want to be at the police precinct by seven. I have cop ass to chew. That’s my breakfast.”
Ridge knew what he’d be doing.
Mostly, he was keeping Lucian in that cage if he went crazy and started gunning for a cop. There was one thing about him that was consistent.
BISHOP was off limits.
