Okay, this had his attention.

It appeared maybe, this was her epiphany after a few weeks of stressing for nothing.

Claire continued.

“I’m never going to trust her, Beck, but I know I can trust you. You’re my husband, and you’re right. She got what she deserved and in the process, that saved me. She took a man from me, but in exchange, she gave me a chance at this amazing world that I’m so grateful for.”

He stared into her eyes.

They were filled with tears.

Now, this was his wife.

“She hurt me, but you healed me. I’m lost in that anger right now, but if you tell me I’m being a bitch, I believe it. You’ve always been my rock, Beck. I may not trust what I’m feeling in this situation, but I can trust you to help me navigate this overload of emotions.”

He was honest.

“I would NEVER betray you.”

She moved closer.

“I struggle with it because she looks just like me, Beck. She has my face, and it lured someone I loved away. He said we were the same, and he was confused. I fear that. Fear is very motivating.”

He was aware.

He couldn’t touch anything without that fear of being pulled in. His gift got stronger and stronger, and all he had was her to anchor him.

To save him.

Beckett put his faith in her every time he touched something for work.

“That’s bullshit, Claire. He wanted to cheat. Trust me. I’m a man. We don’t cheat if we’re happy. I’m the happiest I’ve been in my whole life. I have my girls. Nothing will change that love in me.”

That helped.

He wasn’t done.

“For the record, she doesn’t look that similar to you that I would be confused. You look like you, Claire. You look similar, but like I can pick Julian out of him and Justin, I can pick my wife out of the group of two.”

She stood there.

This gave her hope.

“When you smile, your lip curls a little. Your eyes are shaped differently. I can scent my mate, Claire. You smell like mine. I can close my eyes and hear your voice. I’m not going to get confused and go to bed with your sister. I’m not an idiot. I can see who my wife is, and up to this episode, I believed she was the kindest woman ever.”

Her heart hitched.

That was the past tense.

Honestly, she didn’t want her husband thinking she was a bitch.

“I’m asking you to forgive her. I’m asking you to let her go so that we can have our happiness again. I’m asking you to trust me. I won’t betray you. You’re my whole world. You’re the only person who has ever been able to anchor me. Ridge pulled me out of the walk, but barely. You can always save me. I’m tied to you by a child. We made an us. Have compassion, Claire. She’s had a rough life. Be the better sister, and take the high road on this one. The karma on doing it the other way won’t be good.”

She nodded.

That she understood.

Claire wouldn’t risk her husband and child.
