He was scared.

“I don’t know. I’m being framed. That’s why I came here tonight. Someone is trying to hurt my career. I swear to god! I don’t know what is going on.”

He wasn’t lying.

This man really had no idea who was stalking him and trying to frame him.

Before Genesis could say anything, the door to the room opened, and in came a stranger.

“Dad!” Cyrus said, standing up.

The older man erupted.

“What is the meaning of harassing my son-in-law! I saw he was being detained.”

Bishop stood up, and she tried to slow his role. How could they detain someone who walked into the precinct of their own free will?

“He wasn’t detained.”

The man glared at her.

“The warrant that you applied for says otherwise,” he said. “Do you think I wouldn’t hear from my friends on the bench? Well, I did.”

Well, that sucked.

The man wasn’t done.

“You’re harassing an innocent man who is trying to figure out who hurt his wife. My daughter needs to be found! I don’t need you witch hunting my son-in-law. Cyrus, let’s go.”

Genesis stood.

Only, Jesse Thompson, Jessamy’s father, wasn’t alone. Behind him, the homicide captain was there.

“Detective! Stop harassing the man. We’re going to discuss your employment. Meet me in my office. NOW!”

Well, this was where it went bad. Apparently, after being notified of the warrant, the man also made a call.

To.

Her.

Boss.

Cyrus and his father-in-law regrouped, right before they headed out.

“Come on, Cy. We’ll go to my house. You need to stop being stressed. I know you love my daughter. I know how much she means to you.”

And just like that, they were gone.

Well, shit.

The captain also left, but there was no doubt what was about to happen.

“Well, I’m going to be terminated. Bet your bottom dollar on it. That’s how the judge is going to stop us from further investigating. Once I’m fired, you guys are off the case. That was the deal.”

Oh, they were aware.

Tori needed to know what the woman picked up during the questioning.
