Bodhi laughed.
“Maybe asking a ghost that is a bad idea,” he said, trying not to laugh.
“He never gives in. I don’t know what to think,” she said, honestly.
Oh, Bodhi knew.
The men had worked it out.
He suspected that the dead man would be on his best behavior going forward.
Then, he had an idea.
“Maybe we can have a single chocolate cupcake on the wedding cake table,” Bodhi said. “You know, in honor of Jake. Because had he not died, we wouldn’t have met.”
At his words. tears filled her eyes.
“Bo, that’s sweet,” she said, kissing him.
The radio agreed.
“THANK. YOU. BODY. I. APPRECIATE. THAT. NOW. CAN. SOMEONE. TEACH. ME. HOW. TO. EAT. AS. A. DEAD. GUY?”
They both laughed.
Oh, this was going to be a wild ride.
They could tell.
Chapter Sixteen
The crime Scene
Lakeside
O h, when it rained, it poured. Not only were they now four bodies in, but this case was getting crazy. When they found the body, and moved closer, they found the dead woman with a plastic bag over her head.
They couldn’t touch her.
Genesis wouldn’t let Tori do it, and that was shitty. A PI had to PI. So, instead, she wandered around the scene and knew two things.
This wasn’t going to be the missing woman, Jessamy Lawley—simply based on the fact that she wasn’t decayed at all. The woman had been missing for a few days, but this body…
She was pristine and didn’t even have frostbite to her flesh. That meant she was recent—like hours ago, recent.
From what Tori could see from her ankles and hands, she definitely hadn’t been out in the cold for a week. She was still pink, and that told her all she needed to know.
They had a fifth person—counting the missing woman.
The other thing Tori figured out, while the detective was getting everything handled, was that that she had a name.
How?
The dead woman came right up to her and asked for help.
This was going to be Marny Goodman, or so the dead spirit had relayed to her. For Tori, she also knew that this meant she wasn’t dead long.
Marny had checked them into the hotel yesterday. It gave Tori a basic TOD.
