She shared what she could with Tori because it was important that she know.
“Detective Coffee is her soulmate,” she said. “Josh is meant to be hers. You have to get her back there so that she can meet him,” she admitted.
Trey agreed.
“Their souls will know each other the second they meet. You have to make that happen.”
Tori was curious as to why.
So she asked, forgetting that Genesis was talking previously, and might assume she was talking to her.
“Why?”
The woman kept driving.
“Because I don’t want to hurt,” she admitted.
Instead of acknowledging that, she was focused on Bethany.
“You know we can’t give you that, Tori. Just trust us. Like Jake knew when Bodhi met Hailey, we know because we just know. We aren’t privy to everything, but we can see when a soulmate has a match.”
That was good enough for her.
She’d do it.
“We don’t want you to suffer either,” she admitted. “We’ll be your family now. I only have my brother Beau, but when Julian claimed me as his, I found a whole world where I got a bunch of brothers and sisters. We’ll claim you.”
That sounded so…nice.
“Thank you. I’ll accept that offer. I want to have holidays with someone. Thanksgiving isn’t the same.”
Tori laughed.
“Uh, this might be a good time to mention my husband and his tribe are Native. We kinda gloss over that one.”
She laughed.
“My bad.”
Tori patted her on the arm in reassurance.
When the detective pulled into the park, they both got out, zipped up their coats, and the detective glanced over.
“Stick close. If we go to white out conditions, I don’t need to lose you in the park.”
Tori actually laughed.
“One, again, I’m married to a Native man who was once a tracker who used to find shit for the FBI, and two, I have dead people who are always with me. I’m not getting lost. You might though, so you’d better stick close.”
Her phone came to life.
“I. WILL. WATCH. THE. DETECTIVE,” Trey offered.
The phone chimed again.
“THEN. EVERYONE. WILL. WATCH. YOU. GET. YOURSELF. HURT. TREY!”
Tori laughed.
