The tip was taken, and the table was obtained.

“Thank you,” he said to his woman, knowing what she sacrificed for him. Empathically, bad energy was bad for him.

As they took their seats, their hostess handed them menus to peruse.

“Your server will be Jana, and she’ll be over in a few,” she said as she walked away.

Bexley laughed.

“What a coincidence. You pointed us right at the perfect spot,” she said, playing down his need to be away from people. She normalized it for him.

Raven kissed her knuckles, grateful that Bexley was so sweet and understanding.

“Coincidence, huh?” he asked.

Bex knew the truth.

Oh, it wasn’t coincidence, but that was neither here nor there. Raven could just do things like this, and she didn’t mind. If he wanted to sit on the moon, she’d do it.

She’d do anything for him.

As they looked over the menus, Raven stayed close and made small talk, or what she thought was small talk.

“Have I told you how much I love you?” Raven asked as she peeked over the menu.

“Yes, ten minutes ago.”

He smiled at her, but it was off.

Yeah, Bex could see that the smile hadn’t reached his gorgeous eyes.

“What is it?” she asked, closing the menu. “Something is bothering you.”

Raven prepared to share, but they weren’t alone. When the server headed toward them, he knew that she had the worst timing.

It appeared their talk would have to wait.

“I’m Jana. What can I get you to drink?” the pretty brunette asked.

Bexley wasn’t focused on drinks. She was focused on the man she loved.

“I’ll just have water with lemon,” she said.

Raven got what he normally got.

“Hot tea,” he answered.

The woman scribbled it down, and smiled.

“I’ll be right back,” she said, giving them more time to go over the menu before they ordered.

When she was gone, Bex needed to know.

“Seriously, Raven, what’s going on? You’re off. You’ve been off since I saw you outside the police precinct. I thought it was worry about me being held there, but this is more. You’re still rattled.”

His woman was very astute.

He was worried.
